Our testing and
approvals policy
Chiron has always taken the view that
independent testing by third parties is the only
real guarantee of product performance and
compatibility. For this reason all IRIS products
are independently tested and they have
achieved the coveted VdS approvals which is
the benchmark standard most widely
recognised across Europe. In an area such as
security, where the fall-out from even a minor
failure can be huge, we believe this is the only
responsible route to take.

What is IP?
Quite simply IP uses the Internet to carry
security communications instead of the old
switched telephone network. This means that
vastly more information, of vastly different
kinds can be sent without the need for
dedicated lines; information such as voice,
data and high definition CCTV. It also allows
that information to be two-way, so a
monitoring centre can communicate with a
remote site, interrogate its health, control
cameras and even conduct remote
maintenance.
There's also considerable pressure from the
telecommunications companies themselves or
the security industry to switch to IP. Because
IP uses less bandwidth than conventional
methods, it frees up capacity to be used for
other purposes such as on-demand television.
Indeed, much of the European telecom
network is in the processes of planning the
withdrawal of the services that makes non-IP
security communications possible - so soon
IP in security will not be a choice, but a
certainty.

IRIS Touch has rapidly become established as

communication, from remote troubleshooting
to CCTV control, to communications
resilience. It offers dual path backup by all
standard methods, flexible polling and
simpler upgrade paths. Indeed, it allows
any analogue installation to become part
of the IP revolution.

At the heart of the system is IRIS Secure Apps TM,
which controls all communications and is run
and managed by the monitoring centre.
IRIS Secure AppsTM is more than an intelligent
receiver. It is a whole new concept in
information systems for all security users from
system managers, client account managers to
installers and engineers. Each App can be
tailored for each user to be able to undertake
tasks for which they have authorization by the
monitoring centre.
With IRIS Secure AppsTM, installers can see
technical alarms and initiate remote
management and diagnostics. Estate
managers can see the state of all alarms on
their sites, identify problems and look at faults,
manage upload/download and a host of
other activities.
IRIS Secure AppsTM can be many things to
many people. It is the ultimate chameleon.

IRIS Touch 200 series
Each IRIS Touch 200 series model is built
around an elegant consumer unit and
features the unique touch screen technology
that makes the range simple to install,
configure and troubleshoot. It is available in
three versions, all of which have advanced
specifications and the flexibility to suit a
wide range of installations.
IRIS Touch 200 GSM/GPRS
Now the IRIS Touch 200 is available in a
dual GSM/GPRS configuration. This unit
can be used as a standard GPRS dialler
but has all the extra advantages of the IRIS
IP available in our higher specification models.
Thanks to a unique touch screen, is easy
to install and configure despite its high
specification, connections and capabilities.
With a performance beyond that of most
GSM/GPRS diallers, this flexible unit is a
favourite with installers due to its advanced
GSM/GPRS detection software.
IRIS Touch 220 IP
An IP solution that shares the same
touch screen consumer unit as the 200,
and therefore its ease of installation and
configuration, the IRIS Touch 220 is ideal
for new installations, or for upgrading legacy
systems. By bringing the advantages of IP
based security comms to almost all situations
it has proved popular with installers and
end-users alike.
IRIS Touch 240 IP and GPRS
By offering IP, GPRS backup, and the
unique touch screen that is common to the
entire range, the IRIS Touch 240 is a
comprehensive and highly specified solution
to situations where ease of installation and
dual path capabilities are required. Its
advanced GPRS detection software makes
configuration simple - even in areas where
signal strength is unknown or uncertain.

IRIS Touch 400 series
The 400 series is a range of PCB based
diallers, still featuring the unique touch screen,
but suitable for use in existing enclosures and
cabinets or for inclusion in bespoke
installations. Highly specified and flexible,
they are ideal for upgrading large legacy
systems to modern standards.
IRIS Touch 400 GSM/GPRS & PSTN*
An advanced integrated dialler designed to be
used within a fire or intruder panel, the IRIS
Touch 400 has all of the benefits of the full
IRIS IP system across GPRS or may be used
as a single GSM dialer with or without PSTN
back-up. The IRIS Touch 400 is the ideal
way to bring the versatility of IRIS Touch
screen technology to existing panels that
require GSM/GPRS capability. Conforming to
the highest European standards it has been
independently certified by leading
European laboratories.
IRIS Touch 420 - IP and PSTN*
A PCB based unit capable of converting
existing panels to IP operation - with all the
advantages that brings - the IRIS Touch 420
uses the unique touch screen technology to
make that conversion, connection and
commissioning as simple as possible. Available
with an optional PSTN backup capability it
offers a flexible answer in almost all cases.
IRIS Touch 440 - IP, GSM, PSTN* and GPRS
The most fully-featured of the 400 series, the
440 not only provides IP, GSM, and GPRS for
existing panels but can also be factory
configured for PSTN where required.
Commissioning and installation are via the
unique touch screen, and it offers a wide
choice of built-in connections from traditional
screwed post through to Ethernet and serial.

IRIS Touch 600 series
IRIS Touch 640 - IP and GPRS
A cost-effective PCB based dialler offering
both IP and GPRS and intended for
installation in existing panels, including fire.
The IRIS Touch 640 brings IP operation, and
high specification integration, to many legacy
panels including Honeywell and Texecom and
offers fast remote access, easy installation,
and commissioning.
IRIS Touch 620/640 - IP fire
Now fully approved to EN54-21 for fire
systems both the IRIS Touch 620 and 640 are
simple, cost effective ways to provide IP
conversion for fire panels by simply taking the
PIN outputs from a fire panel directly to the
IRIS Touch dialler.
