Describe practical application <strong>of</strong> gender budgeting<br />
Recommend gender budgeting for current equity issues<br />
Dr. Sulochana Vasudevan explained concept <strong>of</strong> Gender Resource<br />
Budgeting (GRB) in the planning <strong>of</strong> <strong>National</strong> Programmes:<br />
•Conceptual frameworks<br />
•Examples <strong>of</strong> government GRB initiatives from other countries<br />
Explaining the need for Gender Budgeting, she said that:<br />
•Women represent 48 percent <strong>of</strong> the total population in the country.<br />
•They face disparities in access to <strong>and</strong> control over services <strong>and</strong><br />
resources.<br />
•Bulk <strong>of</strong> public expenditure <strong>and</strong> policy concerns are in “gender neutral”<br />
