The VNA experienced a substantial increase in positive net assets in <strong>2005</strong> despite the challenges faced by high increases in the cost of labor and benefits and very minimal increases in reimbursement for services provided. The Agency and the industry continues to meet challenges presented by increased costly regulatory pressures without corresponding increase in funding. With “Pay for Performance” anticipated implementation in 2007, the Agency is facing greater financial, clinical and management challenges in the coming years. In <strong>2005</strong>, Management has focused on improving efficiency, making the best uses of labor resources and implementing cuts in Indirect Expenses as well as Direct Expenses while maintaining a high level of quality. The Agency will continue to evaluate all areas and always look for ways to improve efficiency and cut costs in order to meet all the challenges that Home Care is expected to face in the future.
