The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.

OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period , attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two- thirds vote of membership present at
any general membership meeting by secret
ballot
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All
members must submit proof of personal
insurance in accordance with California
State Law upon application for
membership, and all members must be a
member of the association providing club
liability insurance for CENTRAL VALLEY
CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

This month’s message contains several musings. If
you own a C6 Corvette, and about 30% of our club
does, have you been hit with the broken glove box
latch yet? After leaving the Laningham’s run to
Chukchansi, Pam went to open the glove box on our
2008 and the handle disintegrated into several
pieces. When we got home, I went on the computer
and found this to be a common problem. It costs
about $55 for the new part and there is an online doit-yourself
video for the installation. I’ll bet our
glove box wasn’t opened two dozen times before it
blew up.
2014 Corvette ordering guides are now in the hands
of 900 of the more than 3,000 Chevrolet dealers.
But with a late summer start for production, don’t
look for the first C7’s to hit the showroom until
September. The convertible is due to arrive just in
time for Christmas. In order to sell a new Corvette,
dealers must have sold at least 4 Corvettes last year
and sent a specialist for training to the Spring
Mountain Racetrack in Pahrump, Nevada for 1.5
days of schooling at a cost of $2,000 plus travel
expenses.
We are getting a lot more runs these days which is
good news. But I’ve noticed post run reports seem
to have almost vanished from the newsletter. The
pictures are getting in there, but rarely a narrative.
So as a reminder to run leaders, to please include a
narrative on your CVC activity. Things are really
taking off for the October 4-6 President’s Mystery
run. Pam and I have everything locked in, and as of
this writing 44 people (57% of the club) have
signed up. Due to restrictions on rooms and the
tours, we only have room for a maximum of three
more people. The cost is $600 for couples and $425
for singles. I would like to have a 50% deposit
from you, payable to CVC, by this month’s meeting
on May 21 st . The balance needs to be paid by the
August 20 th meeting. Over half the people going
have already turned in their deposits and many have
paid in full. Thanks to everyone for the great
response. I know we are going to have a great time!
Finally, my message last month was a history of all
the Corvettes in CVC. Unfortunately due to an
omission on our roster, we left one Corvette out of
the story. That would be a 1960 Corvette that Joyce
Kroeker bought for Ed several years back. It also
means the Kroekers and the Garrisons have the
most Corvettes in the club with three each. The
Kroeker’s have the 1960, along with a 1995 Pace
Car and a 2003 Pace Car and the Garrisons have a
1958, a 1981 and a 1998.

General meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by
President Craig Hansen.
Minutes from the March General meeting were read
by Terri Parks. There was a correction to the
minutes regarding the dates of the Mystery Run. A
motion was made by Joyce Kroeker and seconded
by Linda Laningham to accept the minutes as
corrected.
Membership Chairperson: Diane Hays would like to
start up the "In the Headlights" articles for the
newsletter and would like members to fill out the
forms. She said she gave Ed Dena some CVC
business cards to hand to new Corvette owners.
Treasurer: Fred Parks gave the April's Treasurer's
report.
Vice President of Public Relations: Jeff Levine
reported on the birthdays and anniversaries of the
club members.
Vice President of Activities: Pam Hansen had
members report on their past runs. She reported the
future runs as Gamblers' Classic, Clovis Rodeo
Parade, School House & Play, Cam Twister's car
show, Word from Home car show, Phoenician
Gardens, Chowchilla car show, Auburn/Nevada
City, Solvang, and Rodger Rocka's
Sergeant of Arms: Charlie Fosnaugh collected
badge fines of $2.25.
Our "In the News" reporter Jan Pflepsen reported
the news concerning our Corvette families.
Parliamentarian: Linda Laningham had nothing to
report.
Old Business: Craig apologized for forgetting the
number of Corvettes owed by the Kroekers in his
President's Message.
He reminded members to submit reports on their
runs for the newsletter.
He gave an update regarding the Mystery Run.
Website : Charlie Fosnaugh reported our website
address as "centralvalleycorvettes.com".
Craig gave an update on the C7.
New Business: Gail Tavares thanked everyone for
donating to the Blood Bank in Rick's name and for
all the cards and calls.
Next Board meeting will be at the home of Craig
and Pam Hansen on April 18th at 7:00 p.m.
The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by
Gordon Capurro and seconded by Mike Hays.

I would like to thank those of you that continue to support our efforts to raise
money for Families for Effective Autism Treatment. Some of you have donated
to our raffle and others cash donations and of course those that attend the show.
It is awesome to see all the support from our fellow corvette friends. I hope none
of you will ever have to experience having a grandchild with autism. Although Jonny
has been a blessing to our family he also is a challenge and life changing for our
daughter and son-in-law and his sister. Hopefully one of these days they will know
the cause.

I made serveral attempts to gather information from our CVC members to
share with all of you. It must have been a slow month for all.
1. Pat Garrahan tells me that her daughter Heisi placed her name in a lottery to climb Half-
Dome and was selected for an August climb. What an adventure! Gary’s daughter climbed
Half-Dome and brought back many memories as I know Heidi will. Lots of luck to her…
2. Well, it seems Ed Kroecker has been up to his old tricks! He once again proved he is a
survivor. During the family’s recent visit to Lego Land, he ignored the signs regarding sneior
citizens and heart patients riding the roller coaster. He and all of the guys decided to ride the
roller coaster and Ed had the biggest grin when the ride finished. He loved it and went from
that to the boats trying to avoid the water boats – such fun all day! Son, Jeff was installed as
president of the National Demolitian Association. He did a great jobe speaking to a group of
about 1,000 contractors. the entire family from ages one to 81 had a wonderful time.
3. What Ed thought to be a spider bite on his right hand, which was swollen and painful, turned
out to be gout. Hopefully the medication will keep the pain down.
4. Gary played in a golf tournament with Ex-CVC member, Bob Babcock. Bob and wife Pam
siad to tell everyone “Hello”. He is contemplating buying a 2014 Vette and said he would rejoin
the club if he does.
5. Per Joyce Kroecker: Jill had durgery to remove a growth from her carotid artery and has been
waiting for it to heal so that she can return to work.

½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine,
softened
¾ cup sugar
1/3 cup REESE’S Creamy peanut
butter
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
THYME-GARLIC ROASTED
ASPARAGUS
3 Garlic cloves, minced
Cooking Spray
1Lb. Asparagus, trimmed
1 tsp. Olive oil
½ tsp. Dried thyme
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Spread garlic in an 11x 7-in baking
dish or a small rimmed cookie sheet
¼ tsp. Salt
1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup Hershey’s milk chocolate
chips
1 cup REESE’S peanut butter chips
coated with cooking spray. Arrange
asparagus in an even layer over
garlic and drizzle with oil. Sprinkle
with thyme and salt. Bake @400
degrees for 10-15 minutes
depending on the thickness of the
asparagus or until the asparagus are
tender.
Yields 4 servings.

I talked with Charlie on the Sunday following the parade. He and Kim were on their way
to San Francisco for a little fun.
He wanted to give me some comments for the newsletter. He said to thank everyone
who participated in his first run. All went well. Good parade this year and a nice lunch at
Red Robin afterward. He had fun and hoped everyone enjoyed themselves
