Section 1. TITLE. This ordinance shall be known as the Organic Agriculture
Ordinance of Baeolod City.
Section 2.~- DECLARATION OF POLICY It is the policy of the state to
promote and protect the right to hearth of the peopte and instill health consciousness
among them.
The City of Bacolod must adopt programs in order to support the thrust of the
government in meeting the food requirements and make them accessible, affordable, safe
and nutritious.
Section 3. DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES. The practice of organic agriculture
shall adhere to the following principles to guide the implementation of this ordinance:
a Organic Agriculture does not co-exist with the genetically modified crops,
chemically produced crops and related organisms, both living and non-living;
b. All existing policies on agriculture of local government units should adopt and
integrate all aspects of Organic Agriculture;
c. The integrity of organic products through the approved organic certification
process and organic production, handling and processing standards should be
ensured; and
d. Integration of organic agriculture in the basic education agriculture subjects
and tertiary agriculture courses in public and private schools.
Section 4. DEFINITION OF TERMS As defined in this ordinance, the
following words shall mean:
a. Inland Fisheries Production - is a production system of farming of fish and
other aquatic organisms in inland areas using fresh water or slightly safty
water
b Organic - relating to, or derived from living organism; or yielding, dealing in, or
involving the use of food products with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or
animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth
stimulants, antibiotics or pesticides.
