Section 1. TITLE. This ordinance shall be known as the Organic Agriculture<br />
<strong>Ordinance</strong> of Baeolod <strong>City</strong>.<br />
Section 2.~- DECLARATION OF POLICY It is the policy of the state to<br />
promote and protect the right to hearth of the peopte and instill health consciousness<br />
among them.<br />
The <strong>City</strong> of <strong>Bacolod</strong> must adopt programs in order to support the thrust of the<br />
government in meeting the food requirements and make them accessible, affordable, safe<br />
and nutritious.<br />
Section 3. DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES. The practice of organic agriculture<br />
shall adhere to the following principles to guide the implementation of this ordinance:<br />
a Organic Agriculture does not co-exist with the genetically modified crops,<br />
chemically produced crops and related organisms, both living and non-living;<br />
b. All existing policies on agriculture of local government units should adopt and<br />
integrate all aspects of Organic Agriculture;<br />
c. The integrity of organic products through the approved organic certification<br />
process and organic production, handling and processing standards should be<br />
ensured; and<br />
d. Integration of organic agriculture in the basic education agriculture subjects<br />
and tertiary agriculture courses in public and private schools.<br />
Section 4. DEFINITION OF TERMS As defined in this ordinance, the<br />
following words shall mean:<br />
a. Inland Fisheries Production - is a production system of farming of fish and<br />
other aquatic organisms in inland areas using fresh water or slightly safty<br />
water<br />
b Organic - relating to, or derived from living organism; or yielding, dealing in, or<br />
involving the use of food products with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or<br />
animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth<br />
stimulants, antibiotics or pesticides.
