Uttar Pradesh 3 This phase itself is divided into two sub-phases A and B. Group A contains states and districts going in for campaigns in October – December 2011 and Group B had states and districts going in for campaigns after January 2012. Overview Two batches of National Training of Trainers were planned in August 2011 at NIHFW, New Delhi in which all the 14 state teams will be trained. They will in turn train the district training teams who will further train the vaccinators and other staff in the districts. In the first TOT, conducted on 5 th -6 th August 2011, state training teams from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were trained. These states were going for campaigns before November 2011. The second TOT was planned to train teams from the remaining six states – Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Nominations were invited for five participants from each state. The participants would preferably be the State Program manager (SEPIO), faculty members from SIHFW/ Medical Colleges / HFWTC/RHFWC, etc., for purposes of monitoring the quality of trainings in the districts. Objective of the Workshop At the end of the training, participants will be able to Act as resource persons for state level (and district level) trainings Guide District program managers to initiate micro-planning process Train District (and Block) level trainers for training of ANM & ASHA/AWW/Volunteers in conducting measles catch-up campaign sessions Train District level trainers for training of MOs in AEFI reporting and management Monitor quality of district and (if needed) sub-district level trainings 4
Training Methodology The state training teams had the SEPIOs and others who were more or less trained in Phase 1 and also had practical experience of a measles campaign. Therefore, the focus was to get the involvement of the participants through discussions on points of the presentations and also experience sharing. Short presentations were followed with discussions and experience-sharing. There were exercises, group works and discussions followed by presentations to liven up monotonous sessions on formats, microplanning and preparation of communication plans. 5
