Fire Chief: James Quinn

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department is responsible for

providing fire protection and emergency medical services to the

Villages of Deerfield, Bannockburn, a portion of Riverwoods and

areas of unincorporated Lake County.

The Fire Department encompasses eight and one-third square

miles and is bounded on the north by the City of Lake Forest, on

the west by the West Deerfield/Vernon Township line, on the east

by the City of Highland Park and on the south by the center line of

Lake-Cook Road. The population protected by the Department is

approximately 21,000.

The Department consists of 45 employees: A Fire Chief, Deputy

Chief, Administrative Manager, Administrative Assistant, a

Mechanic, three Battalion Chiefs, six Lieutenants, one Fire

Marshal, and 30 Firefighter/Paramedics. Paramedic training is

completed at Highland Park Hospital and certification is through

the Illinois Department of Public Health. Continuous training in

both fire fighting and emergency medical procedures is provided

to ensure proficiency in all areas.

The Department has trained personnel for special teams which

include: Hazardous Material Response Team, Technical Rescue

Team and Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team. Members of

these teams also participate in area wide teams for each of the

specialties mentioned.

Protecting the citizens is state-of-the art equipment, which includes

three paramedic equipped engines, one 105 foot aerial ladder

truck, one heavy rescue squad truck, one specialized response

team vehicle, three paramedic equipped transport ambulances,

one incident command vehicle and seven administrative/support

vehicles.

Coverage of the Fire District is provided from two fire stations. The

main fire station is located at 500 Waukegan Road in Deerfield.

The second station is in Bannockburn at 1935 Half Day Road.

Fire Chief: Fred Kruger

The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Department consists of

approximately 40 full-time firefighters, the majority of whom

are state-certified paramedics. The department covers all of

Lincolnshire, most of Riverwoods, parts of Vernon Hills and

Mettawa, and a large area of unincorporated Lake County

communities including portions of Prairie View, Wheeling, and

Deerfield.

Station 51 houses a paramedic equipped 750 gallon engine,

a 1000 gallon tanker engine, a specialized heavy duty rescue

squad, a rescue boat and two ambulances. Station 52, houses a

paramedic equipped 750 gallon engine, and an ambulance. Station

53 houses a 100 foot Aerial Ladder Truck and an Ambulance.

The Fire Department stays active with a Fire Prevention Bureau,

Public Education, and specialized response teams which include

hazardous material, dive, high angle, and confined space rescue

teams. CPR classes are offered on a monthly basis.
