Planning for <strong>Training</strong><br />

Introduction:<br />

Conducting a successful training course requires much advance planning, including identification <strong>of</strong><br />

participant needs through a needs assessment and the application <strong>of</strong> this information to the training<br />

plan. By reviewing the techniques <strong>of</strong> training needs assessment and the use <strong>of</strong> training objectives, this<br />

unit provides trainees with the skills necessary to plan for training courses.<br />

Unit <strong>Training</strong> Objective:<br />

To prepare the participant to plan for training.<br />

Specific Learning Objectives:<br />

By the end <strong>of</strong> this unit, the participants will be able to:<br />

1. Describe the steps needed to plan for training implementation.<br />

2. Describe how to choose participants.<br />

3. Develop selected components <strong>of</strong> a training curriculum.<br />

4. Describe how to pilot test the training curriculum.<br />

5. Explain the importance <strong>of</strong> developing tools to assess knowledge and skills.<br />

6. Explain how to choose a clinical training site.<br />

7. Explain how to develop a clinical training site.<br />
