What is MavMAIL Voice Access?

MavMAIL Voice Access is a type of Unified

Messaging

Unified Messaging (UM) is the integration of different

streams of communication (e-mail, SMS, fax, voice,

video, etc.) into a single or unified message store

accessible from a variety devices

Basically, Voicemail stored in your e-mail


Why are we changing voicemail systems?

Save $$$ – approximately $35,000 in yearly maintenance

Save disk space on the SAN server

Increased availability in service

Rich in features

Listen to your e-mail, calendar and contacts from a phone

Missed call notification e-mail messages

Voicemails can be detected in folders other than the Inbox

You can reset your own PIN (for the phone) using MavMAIL

or Microsoft Outlook

Play Voicemail in MavMAIL using a built-in media bar – not

a separate player

Audio notes can be added to Voicemails

Smaller Voicemail file size – 1 / 5 the size


Codec Support

PCM is uncompressed, and

therefore occupies the most

space at a given duration (just

over 160,000 bytes for each 10

seconds of audio). RIFF/WAVE

format

GSM is compressed (just over

16,000 bytes for each 10

seconds).

WMA is the most highly

compressed codec (about

11,000 bytes for each 10

seconds). Windows Media

How do I get to MavMAIL Voice Access?

Press the messages key on your own phone

Enter your PIN

On campus, dial 2222

Enter your extension then your PIN

Off campus, dial (507) 389-2222

Enter your extension then your PIN

The system will announce the current status of your

e-mail, voicemail, and calendar. You can say:

Voicemail, E-mail, Calendar, Directory, Personal

Contacts, or Personal Options


From the voicemail menu

you can listen to your

messages and use these

commands
