What’s on offer? There are a variety of ways to experience working at UBS, depending on where you are in your academic career. For students – Internship Program Our internship programs are the best way to prepare for a graduate position at UBS. They are opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most successful people in finance today – while acquiring the skills and making the contacts that will give you a head start when you graduate. You will be a valued and productive member of your team from day one, as we believe it is important to expose you to interesting projects and worthwhile work experience with real responsibilities. You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to network with your peers, recent graduates and senior people from across the bank. Your internship program will contain the following elements: • Welcome Day: learn about our principles, strategy and structure • Interns’ Event: get to know your peers and spend an exciting day together • Get to Know UBS Sessions: gain unique insights into UBS through senior leaders and UBS graduates. • Interns’ Lunches: informal exchange with other interns In addition, you’ll have access to other networking opportunities and community projects. Throughout the program, you’ll be supported by your line manager, campus recruiting and various exchange platforms. 4 We always seek to hire the best interns after graduation. Here are the programs that we offer in Switzerland: • 3–6 month Internship Program: we hire for this program throughout the year on a rolling basis. • Summer Internship Program: Our 2013 program will run for 10 weeks during your summer break. For graduates – Graduate Training Program The Graduate Training Program (GTP) is an 18 – 24 months framework of development, which we offer to talented graduates in preparation for long-term employment within a target function. The program consists of various core components beside the on-the-job learning, supplemented by further programs of training which are specifically built around our different business areas. The initial core component is the GTP Discovery. This module aims to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the UBS strategy, vision and guiding principles and equips you with a fundamental level of knowledge of banking and finance. It enhances your knowledge and understanding of our business divisions’ core capabilities and gets you ready for work. You will complete this module with graduates from across the firm in order to provide you with the peer network that will be so critical to your future success. After GTP Discovery you will participate in tailored training for your business area which will equip you with the necessary technical skills to be effective in your role. The nature of this training varies by business area but is typically made up of intensive classes, combined with ongoing learning modules and qualifications relevant to your role. The hands-on way for you to broaden your know-how and gain experience relevant to your functional area, rotations are an integral part of the program; they also support your individual development in relation to your future function. Throughout your time on the GTP you will have access to the GTP Net. This is a series of developmental modules which provide you with access to skills development and exposure to senior industry experts. The GTP Net also provides an extensive series of opportunities for community involvement. Through participation in GTP Net you will learn and grow while maintaining and building your professional network. There’s no doubt that our graduate program is the best way to launch your career. Please check our website for more information on specific opportunities www.ubs.com/graduates Wealth Management Wealth Management Client Advisory Wealth Management is the heart of our business and uniquely positioned thanks to our sophisticated, rigorous investment process, our worldwide coverage and our globally diversified client business. In this role, you’ll help our clients develop and capitalize on their wealth and structure their existing finances. Investment Products & Services (IPS) As an investment and product specialist you will work closely with client advisors to help develop products and services for clients drawing on the capabilities of the entire firm. IPS includes everything from advisory solution and advisory products to investment management and wealth planning, but also risk management, regulatory and platform management. Retail & Corporate Banking Private Client Advisory In Switzerland, we want to be the bank of choice for retail clients by offering tangible added value. Get involved in delivering of value adding, easy-to-use products and services tailored to our clients’ financial needs, wherever they are in their lives. Corporate & Institutional Client Advisory (CIC) As a graduate supporting corporate and institutional clients, you could be involved in helping small businesses raise capital or advising large multinationals on merger and acquisition opportunities. Alternatively, you might be involved in advising pension funds and insurance companies on their investment strategies and how to best manage their assets. Investment Bank Investment Banking Department (IBD) As an IBD analyst, you will be part of a team that works closely with corporates, financial sponsors, governments and investors to help them achieve their financial and strategic goals. You will have the opportunity to be part of debt and equity capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and will provide general corporate finance advice. You will be working closely with the capital markets department. Equities (EQ) You’ll be part of a business area that is a leading participant in the global primary and secondary markets for equity products. We have roles to suit people from all sorts of backgrounds – you could work in research or sales and trading, or you could be looking after our hedge-fund clients in prime services. Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) You’ll help us provide corporate and institutional clients with a full range of products across foreign exchange, fixed income and commodities. Working in either research, structuring or sales and trading, you’ll be expected to show a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and an ability to deliver exceptional service. Global Asset Management Our asset management business offers investment capabilities across all major traditional and alternative asset classes. These include equity, fixed income, currency, hedge fund, real estate, infrastructure and private equity investment capabilities. You will work alongside our talented asset managers and specialists while you learn about our organization, our clients and our wide range of investment products and services. Corporate Center Finance Finance are the guardians of the firm’s financial resources, managing, reporting and forecasting on all of UBS’s finances. We also act as consultants using our global business advisory and analytics capabilities to advise the firm’s senior managers. Group Internal Audit (GIA) Group Internal Audit is an independent and objective function that systematically assesses governance, risk management and controlling processes. You will be an active member of an audit team, participating in their audits, both in Switzerland and abroad. Human Resources (HR) HR works in partnership with the business to recruit, develop and retain the exceptional people needed to support our clients’ continued success. You’ll help to foster UBS’s collaborative, respectful and performance-oriented culture. Information Technology (IT) The financial markets are complex, varied and ever changing – and technology is an integral part of the way they work. For you, working in our technology function means challenge, innovation, variety and a chance to work with the latest developments in IT as they happen. Operations Our operations team ensures that all of UBS’s transactions are settled swiftly and accurately. Much of our work involves designing and testing new, more effective ways of doing things to keep UBS ahead of its competitors. Risk As a member of our risk team, you’ll help us protect UBS’s reputation, financial health and long-term interests by helping us identify measure and control any risks to our business. 6 7
