This feature provides the ultimate level of investment protection for customers seeking read compatibility with their current inventory of DLT-based data backups, while providing for an easy transition to SDLT-based data protection solutions. With HP One-Button Disaster Recovery, you can quickly, reliably and simply restore your entire system just by inserting the most recent backup tape and pushing one button on the tape drive. Your HP StorageWorks SDLT 600 tape drive will restore your operating system, configuration, applications, drivers and data files. There's no longer a need to search for software disks and manuals, plus with downtime reduced, the costs of recovery are minimized. There's no need to make a new set of disaster recovery disks each time the network configuration is altered or a peripheral is added. Recovering from a disaster manually at a stressful time makes for an error-prone process. The sheer simplicity of HP One- Button Disaster Recovery means less human error. WORM WORM The HP StorageWorks SDLT 600 Tape Drive includes support for WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) functionality. The SDLT 600 WORM implementation is currently supported by Veritas NetBackup. WORM technology provides an enhanced level of security against accidental or malicious alteration of data on tape cartridges. WORM can be important when implementing data retention policies to be compliant with regulations regarding the storage of data on non-rewritable, non-erasable media. The SDLT 600 tape drive ships with support for WORM and can be set to WORM mode using the backup application. Once the cartridge has been set up for WORM, you will be unable to erase or overwrite the data on it, although you will be able to append data until the cartridge is full. WORM media can be read as often as required. When implementing WORM an unformatted or blank Super DLTtape II 600GB data cartridge is required. Two backup applications are provided with the tape drive, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your environment: HP Data Protector or Yosemite TapeWare. By using these backup software applications, customers are assured of getting the best performance from an HP SDLT tape drive. Additionally, both software applications enable you to use HP One-Button Disaster Recovery. HP Data Protector provides data protection and disaster recovery for your enterprise. It ensures recovery from any disruption-from instant recovery through system or site disaster recovery-and is scalable from a single server to enterprise, across applications, operating environments, storage, and data protection approaches. HP Data Protector works with HP StorageWorks SDLT tape drives to automate the routine tasks of the backup and recovery process, maximizing the effectiveness of your data protection staff. It keeps track of all media and copies of data, so that you can easily recover information in case of a system failure, disaster or accidental deletion. Note that support for this software is not included under the contract purchased with your tape drive, nor is it included in the post-warranty Support PLUS option for the tape drive. HP recommends that you purchase phone and update support for your Data Protector product. Phone support is available for either standard business hours or 24x7. Yosemite Technologies TapeWare XE single-server edition is suitable for small to medium-sized business customers looking for an easy-to-use backup application. TapeWare XE offers entry-level support for a single server in a Windows, Linux or NetWare environment. Also included is Yosemite's Disaster Recovery option that fully integrates HP's OBDR (One-Button Disaster Recovery) feature. This single-server edition can be upgraded with options for backing up PC clients, multiple servers, SQL databases, or Microsoft Exchange. The SDLT 320 and SDLT 600 are supported in the HP StorageWorks 3U and 5U Rack-mount Kits, allowing customer to install up to 2 internal DLT or SDLT drives in a 3U rack-mount space or up to 4 internal DLT or SDLT drives in a 5U rack-mount space, respectively. Standard configuration for 3U Rackmount Kit provides two internal SCSI buses (channels) supporting one DLT or SDLT drive per bus. Standard configuration for 5U Rack-mount Kit provides two internal SCSI buses (channels) supporting up to 2 DLT or SDLT drives per bus. Optional cable kit permits user to extend from two to four internal SCSI buses in 5U Rack-mount Kit, increasing the performance (data transfer rate) by allowing the customer to stream data to all four drives simultaneously.
