HISTORY
Campanulas have been part of PKM’s assortment
since the 60s when the founder
of the nursery, Poul Madsen, started
producing the beautiful bellflower as a pot
plant.
Campanulas grow wild in nature almost
all over the world and there are more than
300 different species. Every summer in
Denmark, this little bellflower lights up the
fields and roadsides with its delicate, blue
colours.
TRADEMARKS & PATENTS
Our varieties are registered and marketed
under the protected trademark FAIRY-
TALE FLOWERS®. In addition, GET MEE®,
MEE®, WONDER®, KRONPRINSESSENS
KLOKKEBLOMST® (Crownprincess’s Bellflower),
FLAME® and FIRE® are registered
trademarks.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Since the 70s, PKM has bred numerous
new Campanula varieties. These new varieties
are marketed under PKM’s well-known
quality brand - FAIRYTALE FLOWERS®.
Modern growing techniques and many
years’ intensive breeding efforts have
made Campanula an incredibly long-lasting
plant for use both indoors and outdoors.
GET MEE® has an impressive intense colour,
upright growth and a wealth of buds.
This is the result of many years’ research
and development and the work continues.
Our GET MEE® was selected among more
than 500,000 seedlings. In our selections
one of the things that we focus on is the
plant’s resistance to diseases in order to
reduce the use of plant protection.

Blue GET MEE® mini, 10½ cm, 13 cm & 21 cm
When Campanula has faded indoors,
remove the faded flowers and plant it
outdoors in garden beds, containers or
window-boxes.
GET MEE® and WONDER® typically flower
2-3 times during summer and autumn.
Furthermore, these two Campanula types
are winter-hardy which means that they
will reappear year after year.
POT SIZES, COLOURS & MIX
FAIRYTALE FLOWERS® Campanula is
available in pot sizes from 5½ cm up to 21
cm. From 1st January 2010, Sweet MEE®
and Pretty MEE® are available in 11½ cm.
Our Campanula colour range includes
white, pink, dark red, delicate pale blue

ASSORTMENT
The FAIRYTALE FLOWERS® Campanula
assortment comprises GET MEE®, WON-
DER®, KRONPRINSESSENS KLOKKE-
BLOMST (Crownprincess’s Bellflower),
Sweet MEE® and Pretty MEE®.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Placement:
Bright and sunny indoors and outdoors,
however, out of direct sunlight.
Well suited for planting outdoors.
Watering:
Water moderately from below; do not
over-water or let the plant dry out.
If the plant is very light when you lift it, the
plant needs water.
The best result is achieved by placing the
plant in a bowl with water once or twice a
week until the root-ball has absorbed all
the water it can hold.
Water immediately after the plant has
been planted out, then regularly.
Temperature:
Thrives indoor and outdoor at temperatures
from 10 - 32° Celsius.
When Campanula has faded indoors,
remove the faded flowers and plant it
outdoors in garden beds, containers or
window-boxes.
GET MEE® and WONDER® are winterhardy.
Plant outdoors when night frost has
gone. Should be protected against frost.
Fertilizer:
Do not feed when planting it out as the
potting soil contains fertilizer.

OPTIMUM PLANT DEVELOPMENT
It may be difficult to know which plant development
stage is optimum as it can take
a couple of days from the plant leaves the
nursery until it is ready for sale in the retail.
At FAIRYTALE FLOWERS®, we want to
help our customers having the greatest
possible pleasure from our products.
Our Research & Development department
therefore tests, in close cooperation with
our salesteam and packing department,
how well our Campanulas do from the time

when the finished sales plants leave the
nursery until they arrive at the end consumer’s
home.
We recommend a plant development
stage with 15-40 open flowers for the retail.

LICENSED PRODUCTION
Only FAIRYTALE FLOWERS® produces the
original GET MEE®. We do not sell young
plants or semi-finished plants in Europe.
PKM has licensed production in North
America, Canada and Japan.

EXHIBITIONS
In 2009, FAIRYTALE FLOWERS® participated
at exhibitions in Moscow, Hong
Kong, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, France, Germany
and the Netherlands, both together
with sales companies and alone. We have
appeared on television both in Russia and
the Netherlands, and on RAI UNO.
We will also be highly visible in 2010 in
Great Britain, Spain, etc. and at EXPO 2010
in Shanghai, China. For further information,

ENVIRONMENT
PKM has signed up to MPS, the international
environmental certification organisation,
which evaluates production
resource consumption in a general perspective
specifying requirements concerning
energy consumption, fertilizers, plant
protection and waste management. Since
1 June 2004, PKM has been classified in the
best category as an A-rated nursery.

GET MEE® is a perfect ground cover for
garden beds but is also ideal for containers
on the patio as well as window-boxes. We
recommend 6-8 plants per square meter
when planting GET MEE® in gardens.

GLASS TULIP 2010
Sweet MEE® was introduced at IPM in
January 2009. This beautiful Campanula
was nominated for the FloraHollland’s
”Glass Tulip 2010” award at Hortifair in
November 2009.
Every year, FloraHolland assesses the new
plants which are presented in various categories
and selects the final winner in each
category at a large event held in June. See

FAIRYTALE FLOWERS® IN BRIEF
Hans Christian Andersen, the famous
Danish fairytale-writer, has inspired us to
call our fantastically beautiful flowers for
FAIRYTALE FLOWERS®.
Gartneriet PKM A/S was founded by
Kristian Madsen’s parents, Poul and Marie,
in 1948. Kristian Madsen took over PKM
in 1989. The nursery has 167,000 m2
greenhouse areas and 80,000 m2 outdoor
production areas where 180 competent
employees produce approx. 20 million
plants of which approx. 85% are exported
to European markets.
