to reflect on just how

I have always believed that the combination of well
researched and relevant products which are continuously
developed, together with a real desire to be the very best
in the business, would make the company successful. But
we do not just offer risk transfer solutions – ours is a holistic

There have been many highlights in our journey, but
perhaps one of the most significant was the formation
in 2006 of our own managing agent and syndicate in the
world’s pre-eminent insurance market, Lloyd’s. That has
been the catalyst by which Sportscover has grown into a
leading insurance services provider to the sport and leisure
industries on five continents.
We are passionate about what we do and how we do it.
So we make sure that everyone in Sportscover and its
associated companies is focused on providing the very best
combination of product, price and service to our clients - a
philosophy which has served us well in the past and will
continue to do so in the future.

From Small
Beginnings
We believe that it is our passion for sport and our focus on
customer services that has enabled Sportscover to grow
so remarkably from its beginnings as a small underwriting
agency in Melbourne, Australia to the major force in sports
and leisure insurance that it is today.
Sportscover was established by Peter Nash in 1986 who
identifi ed a gap in the Australian market for insurance
specifi cally designed for amateur sport. It now provides
specialist sports and leisure insurance products in Europe,
Oceania, Asia, Africa and North America.

Sportscover Underwriting Limited is an authorised
Lloyd’s managing agency which manages
Sportscover’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 3334.
Sportscover Underwriting does not write insurance
business itself but is responsible for managing all
aspects of the syndicate’s operation and providing
all the services and resources necessary for the
syndicate to underwrite insurance risks. Sportscover
Underwriting is in a select group of managing agents
authorised by Lloyd’s and the FSA.

The original company that started it all commenced
trading in Melbourne, Australia as a small specialist
sports underwriting agency in 1986. Now writing

Sportscover Europe was established in London in
1999 and had an immediate impact. Our underwriting

Lloyd’s China
China is one of the most vibrant and exciting places
in the world. A population of over 1.3 billion and
an economic growth rate that eclipses most other
countries means that it is an essential market for
businesses with ambition.
With over 26 million football players, 300 million table
tennis players and an aim to increase participation in
sport at all levels, China clearly has a great deal of
potential for sports insurance. That is why Sportscover
decided to become one of the fi rst syndicates to
support the establishment of Lloyd’s China in 2007.
The Sportscover Division of Lloyd’s China, a regulated
insurance company, is authorised to write insurance
and reinsurance business in China and is based in the
Lloyd’s offi ce in Shanghai.
Sportscover has been insuring Chinese athletes since
2008 and is now fi rmly established as an insurer for
sport, contingency and other associated risks in the

Supporting
Sport is a central part of most communities and provides a number of
social and personal benefi ts. So we feel that it is right for us to provide
help in a number of ways. Here are just some of the ways in which we
are involved in giving back to sport.
Sponsorship Grants - SSF
The Sportscover Sponsorship Fund (SSF) was created to
provide grants to small community sporting clubs. Over the last
few years, the SSF has donated over AU$100,000 / £65,000 in
grants to grass-roots sporting clubs and associations around the
world.
General Sponsorship
Throughout the years we have been involved with many sports
groups such as Team Sportscover (UK cycling team), Hockey
NSW and Victoria, Welsh hockey and Victorian Amateur Football
