Aggregates shall be properly screened and if necessary washed clean
before use.
5.3.2 Coarse aggregates containing flat or flaky pieces or mica shall be
rejected.
5.3.3 Coarse aggregates shall be supplied in the following sizes:

5.3.4 The grading of coarse aggregate shall be such that not more than 5%
shall be larger than the maximum size and not more than 10% shall be
smaller than the minimum size. Between these sizes the coarse
aggregate shall be well graded.
5.3.5 The aggregates shall be subjected to tests in accordance with IS 2386
as may be ordered by the Engineer.
5.3.6 Aggregates shall be stored in such a way as to prevent segregation of
sizes and avoid contamination with fines.
5.4 BLENDING OF AGGREGATES:
In order to obtain optimum workability, individual aggregates of
nominal size 20mm, 10mm and 4.75 mm and 2.36mm will be
blended in such a way that the grading curve for all in aggregates will
be a smooth curve from size 0.15mm to 25mm, falling within the
