5.11 Test for concrete and concrete making ingredients:<br />

As frequently as the Engineer may require, testing shall be carried out<br />

in the field/approved laboratory for:<br />

1) Concrete cube test.<br />

2) Permeability test for concrete as per DIN<br />

The Contractor shall provide and maintain at all times, until the <strong>works</strong><br />

are completed, equipment, Technicians, staff required for carrying out<br />

these tests. The Contractor shall grant the Engineer or his<br />

representative full access to his laboratory at all times and shall<br />

produce on demand complete records of all tests carried out on site.<br />

Before concreting commences on any section of the <strong>works</strong> contractor<br />

shall obtain approval of the Engineer or his representative as regards<br />

the formwork and reinforcement conforming with the drawings. He<br />

shall also indicate to the Engineer in writing and obtain his approval for<br />

positions of construction joints. The Engineer or his representative’s<br />

approval shall not relieve the Contractor of any of his obligations to<br />

comply with the provisions of this specification or contract.<br />

5.12 ADMIXTURES :<br />

No materials other than the essential ingredients i.e. cement,<br />

aggregates and water, shall ordinarily be used of manufacture of<br />

concrete or mortar. But the Engineer may permit the use of approved<br />

admixtures conforming to IS:9103 for importing special characteristics<br />

to the concrete, on satisfactory evidence that its use does not in any way<br />

adversely affect the properties of concrete <strong>particular</strong>ly its strength,<br />

volume changes, durability an has not deleterious effect on the<br />

reinforcement. The admixtures shall not be paid separately.
