dewatering if necessary till the mortar is set unless separately provided
for, raking out joints, cleaning, wetting, filling with mortar, trowelling,
pointing with nayla and watering. The rate shall include any colouring
pigment used.
20.6 Mode of measurement:
The contract rate shall be measured as per square metre.
21.0 Providing vent holes in the slab and wearing course with iron grill at the

The item shall be carried out according to the detailed drawings. The
holes shall be located as shown on the drawings or as ordered by the
Engineer.
21.2 Materials:
1) Galvanised iron pipe 150mm (about 6”) diameter of required
lengths.
2) Grill and mild steel plates 6mm (about ¼”) thick, cut and welded
as indicated on the drawings. It shall be welded to the pipe.
Both combined shall be of such length as to be just flush with the top of
road slab and bottom of deck slab.
21.3 Construction:
The 150mm (about 6”) diameter galvanized iron pipe shall be placed
during the concreting of the deck slab and allowed to project for the
required length over the deck slab so that the top of the grill shall be
level with the finished wearing surface.
