b) Permissible limits for solids shall be as given below:<br />

Organic : 200 mg/ litre.<br />

Inorganic : 3000 mg/litre<br />

Sulphate (SO4) : 500 mg/litre<br />

Chloride (C1) : 250 mg/litre<br />

Suspended matter : 2000 mg/litre<br />

c) The pH value shall generally be not less than 6, whenever<br />

necessary, test shall be done as per IS 3025.<br />

d) Under no condition, saline water shall be used for any construction<br />

purpose including curing.<br />

1.15.5 Steel Reinforcement :<br />

Steel reinforcement shall be any of the following:<br />

i) High yield strength deformed bars conforming to IS 1786 –<br />

1979/TMT bars of the <strong>CIDCO</strong> approved make.<br />

ii) Mild steel conforming to IS 432 (Part-I)<br />

1.15.6 Structural Steel<br />

a) All the work of structural steels hall conform to CI. 1900 of<br />

MORT & H Specification.<br />

b) Structural steel shall conform to IS 226 for mild steel, IS 961 for<br />

high tensile steel and IS 2062 for fusion welding quality steel or<br />

IS 1161 for steel tubes for structural use.<br />

c) Finished rolled steel materials shall be free from cracks, flaws,<br />

injurious seams, laps, blisters, ragged and imperfect edges and<br />

other defects. It shall have a smooth and uniform finish and shall<br />

be straightened in the mill before dispatch. They shall be free<br />

from loose mill scale, rust, pitting or other defects affecting its<br />

strength and durability.
