1.20 PROTECTION AGAINST PLYING OF TRAFFIC
Layers of embankment, sub-grade, pavement and shoulder during
construction as also after construction shall be protected against the
plying of any kind of traffic other than construction equipment, till the
new construction has been finally opened to traffic.
1.21 APPROVAL OF MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND METHOD OF WORKS
For all work involving procurement of material and equipment or
choice of method or work by the Contractor, it shall be understood that
the contractor shall keep the Engineer apprised well in advance of the
exact sources, type and description of the materials and equipment, test
date for materials and methods work. The Contractor shall arrange for
trial work, as required by the Engineer, for demonstrating the efficiency
and adequacy of the equipment material and working method in terms
of these specifications.
1.22 CONTROL TESTS ON MATERIALS DURING CONSTRUCTION
1.22.1 The contractor shall use material in construction as conformed to the
requirements regarding composition, grading, physical properties and
Engineering characteristics, as specified for different kinds of materials.
For this purpose, pre construction control test shall be carried out on
representative samples collected at random of materials brought to
construction site or at stock-piles at the specified frequency.
1.22.2 A fresh series of construction control test shall be started every time
whenever there are changes in the source of the materials or in the
appearance of the materials as visually assessed by the Engineer.
1.22.3 Additional numbers and types of construction control tests shall be
carried out if it is considered necessary to do so by the Engineer for
monitoring the variability and suitable of material brought to work site
or to stock-pile by the contractor.
