5. Press START button to introduce the composite signal. Wait for a few seconds to<br />
ensure that the measured response has stabilized. Press START button again to<br />
terminate composite signal delivery.<br />
Version 3.30 and higher: Press F2 to highlight SPL. Then press F3 to select<br />
AIDED 1. Press DATA to print the results.<br />
Note: When using a pure tone the signal will stop automatically at the end of<br />
the sweep. The resulting curve is labeled UNAIDED RESPONSE on the small<br />
graph on the right side of the LCD display.<br />
III. REAL EAR MEASURE<br />
1. Prepare individual for probe tube microphone measure (headband & earhook).<br />
2. Insert probe tube into individual’s ear canal to required insertion depth (from<br />
the inter-tragal notch), using as a guideline: 28 mm for adult females, 31 mm for<br />
adult males, and 20-25 mm for children (use otoscopy to ensure that you do not<br />
touch the child’s eardrum).<br />
3. Since the reference microphone is disabled, you can attach it to the back of the<br />
individual’s clothing or the velcro headband.<br />
4. Insert the child’s custom earmold (or the standard foam coupling).<br />
5. Couple the plastic tip of the insert earphone to the earmold tubing, and deliver<br />
signal as outlined in step II, i.e., press start/stop (see figure 2).<br />
Version 3.30: Press F3 to select AIDED 2, then use AMPLITUDE knob to change<br />
RMS Source to 50 dB for CRV 2 (AIDED 2) test.<br />
