About SJVN<br />
The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited – SJVN (formerly<br />
Nathpa Jhakri <strong>Power</strong> Corporation Limited - NJPC ) was<br />
incorporated on May 24, 1988 as a joint venture <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Government <strong>of</strong> India ( GOI ) and the Government <strong>of</strong><br />
Himachal Pradesh (GOHP) to plan, investigate, organize,<br />
execute, operate and maintain Hydro-electric power<br />
projects in the river Satluj basin in the state <strong>of</strong> Himachal<br />
Pradesh and at any other place. The present authorized<br />
share capital <strong>of</strong> SJVN is Rs 4500 crores.<br />
The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro – Electric Project – NJHEP<br />
(1500 MW) was the first project undertaken by SJVN for<br />
execution.<br />

(6 X 250 MW )<br />
The 1500 MW, Nathpa Jhakri Hydro - Electric Project<br />
– NJHEP (the largest underground hydro - electric power<br />
Project) was the first project executed by SJVN, which<br />
has already been commissioned, as per the following<br />
schedule :<br />
Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister with Late Shri P.M. Sayeed, former Minister <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, Shri Virbhadra Singh,<br />
Chief Minister <strong>of</strong> Himachal Pradesh and other dignitaries at the Dedication Ceremony <strong>of</strong> the 1500 MW NJHPP <strong>of</strong> SJVN.<br />
