1. MONETARY SAVINGS<br />

Savings : Rs. 203 lakhs (Rs. 2.03 Crores)<br />

Investment : Rs. 115 lakhs (Rs. 1.15 Crores)<br />

2. ENERGY SAVINGS<br />

Electricity : 91 lakhs kWh (or Avoided Capacity<br />

equivalent to a 1.73 MW Thermal<br />

<strong>Power</strong> Station<br />

10 .National Campaign on Energy Conservation 2005<br />

On 14th December, 2004, the Hon’ble Prime Minister<br />

<strong>of</strong> India, Dr. Manmohan Singh launched the National<br />

Campaign on Energy Conservation, under which various<br />

measures, activities were undertaken during 2005 by<br />

<strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> through Bureau <strong>of</strong> Energy Efficiency,<br />

State Governments and Designated Agencies, Public<br />

Sector units <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, Industries, Schools, etc.<br />

The national campaign on energy conservation included<br />

the following activities in the industrial, commercial,<br />

agricultural and domestic sectors and educational<br />

institutions.<br />

1. Spreading information about simple energy saving<br />

methods that can be applied in everyday life.<br />

2. In terms <strong>of</strong> the communication strategy, print and<br />

electronic media and campaign events were undertaken<br />

to create energy conservation awareness effectively<br />

and rapidly among the audience nationwide at the<br />

initial stage.<br />

3. Publications/brochures were brought out to create<br />

publicity on wider variety <strong>of</strong> energy conservation<br />

methods to improve energy consumption behavior,<br />

including prevention <strong>of</strong> energy waste and leakage<br />

The National Campaign has targeted various sectors <strong>of</strong><br />

the economy and special emphasis has been given for<br />

active involvement <strong>of</strong> the children and the youth thereby<br />

forming the energy saving habit from childhood. A total <strong>of</strong><br />

207 activities were undertaken in this campaign.<br />
