■ The Quick Reference Guide is intended to provide you with a user-friendly learning
experience to quickly acquaint you with your new INFINITI.
■ Refer to the Quick Reference Guide to learn how to personalize your vehicle’s controls
and equipment to maximize your driving comfort and convenience.
However, this Guide is not intended to replace your vehicle's Owner’s Manual. For
comprehensive vehicle safety information and product details, please refer to your Owner's
Manual. It will help you to better understand the operation and proper maintenance of your
new INFINITI vehicle.

Intelligent Key System
This system allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle, open the power
lift gate, and start and stop the engine without removing the Intelligent
Key from your pocket or bag.
When entering/exiting the vehicle and starting/stopping the engine, the
Intelligent Key should be on “your person” (in a pocket or bag).
Two Intelligent Keys are provided with your INFINITI vehicle. Several
vehicle features can be tied to a specific Intelligent Key. Attached to your Intelligent
Keys are color-coded key ring clips that conveniently distinguish one driver’s
Intelligent Key from another.
Ignition Switch
To Start the Engine:
With the Intelligent Key on “your person” or in the vehicle:
1 Put the transmission in P (PARK). Depress the brake.
The ignition switch will be unlocked when it is pushed in and
turned to the ON position.
2 With your foot off the accelerator pedal crank the engine by
turning the ignition to the START position.
As soon as the engine has started, release the ignition switch immediately.
It will automatically return to the ON position.
To Stop the Engine:
1 Put the transmission in P (PARK).
2 Push in the ignition switch and turn it to the LOCK (OFF) position.
The ignition lock is designed so that the ignition switch cannot be turned to
LOCK (OFF) unless the transmission is in P (PARK).
To Change Ignition to ACC (Accessory):
1 Put the transmission in P (PARK).
2 Push in the ignition switch and turn it to the ACC position.
If the vehicle is running, push in the ignition switch and turn it from the ON
position to the ACC position.

Lock/Unlock Operation
Door Handle Request Switches
To Lock the Doors: Push any door handle Request switch once.
To Unlock the Doors: Push any door handle Request switch once.
The corresponding door will unlock. Push the door handle
Request switch again within 5 seconds to unlock all doors.

Outside Buzzer and Lockout Protection
If you attempt to exit the vehicle and lock the doors with either front door handle
Request switch while the Intelligent Key is inside the vehicle, a beep tone will
sound and the doors will not lock.
Intelligent Key
The Intelligent Key allows you to lock and unlock all doors (including the power lift
gate), open the windows, open and close the power lift gate, and activate a panic
alarm—all from outside the vehicle. Your Intelligent Key will operate up to
approximately 30 feet from the vehicle.

door.
■ Press again within 5 seconds to
unlock all other doors (including

3 seconds to open the front and
second-row windows. Continue
holding until the windows are
completely open.
PANIC ALARM Button
Press and hold down for more than 1
second to sound the horn and flash
the headlights. Press any button on
the Intelligent Key to stop the panic
alarm.
Activating/Deactivating the Horn Beep Feature
You may program your Intelligent Key to sound the horn when locking the vehicle.
To Activate: Press and hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together for at
least 2 seconds. The hazard indicators and side view mirror LED turn signals flash
once and the horn chirps once to confirm the operation is complete.
To Deactivate: Again, press and hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together
for at least 2 seconds. The hazard indicators and side view mirror LED turn signals
flash three times to confirm the operation is complete.

Auto Re-Lock Function
When the doors are unlocked with the UNLOCK button on the Intelligent Key, for
security, after one minute all doors will automatically re-lock unless the following
occurs:
■ Any door is opened.
■ The ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
Note: The time for the Auto Re-Lock function can be modified or turned OFF. To adjust the setting: Press the
SETTING button and select Comfort & Conv. on the center Display Screen. Next, select Auto Re-Lock Time.
Opening/Closing Windows and Doors
with Mechanical Key
The Intelligent Key contains the Mechanical Key, which
can be used in case of a discharged Intelligent Key
battery. The Mechanical Key can be used to unlock and
lock doors and start the ignition in the same way as an
ordinary key.
Child Safety Rear Door Locks
■ The child safety lock levers are located on the inside
edge of the rear doors.
■ When the lever is moved to the LOCK position, the door
can be opened only from the outside. If you cannot
open a rear door from the inside, check the child safety
lock lever.
Pedal Position Adjustment
The accelerator and brake pedals can be adjusted for driving
comfort.
■ Push the top of the pedal adjusting switch to adjust the
brake and accelerator pedal position forward.
■ Push the bottom of the pedal adjusting switch to adjust
the pedals backward.
Note: The brake and accelerator pedals cannot be adjusted separately.

Automatic Drive Positioner Memory System
When programmed, the Automatic Drive Positioner can adjust the driver’s seat,
steering column, pedals, and the outside mirrors to two memorized positions.
To Set Customized Seat, Steering,
Pedal and Mirror Position Memory:
1 Push in the ignition switch and turn it to the ON
position. Keep the transmission in P (PARK) and apply
the parking brake.
2 Adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, pedals, and
outside mirrors to the desired positions.
3 Press the SET button. The indicator lights on both
Memory buttons 1 and 2 will illuminate.
4 Within 5 seconds, press Memory button 1 or 2 and
hold down for at least 1 second. The indicator light on
the Memory button you select will blink ON and OFF one time and then
illuminate solid for approximately 5 seconds. The seat/steering/pedal/mirror
memory is now set to your preference.
5 Link the seat/steering/pedal/mirror memory to your Intelligent Key.
While the indicator light on the Memory button is illuminated (see step 4,
above) press the UNLOCK button on your Intelligent Key. The indicator light on
the Memory button chosen will blink ON and OFF approximately 10 times. The
memory is now matched to the Intelligent Key. You may set the second
seat/steering/mirror memory positions to your other Intelligent Key by
repeating the steps above.
Note: After step 5 is performed one time to link the seat/steering/pedal/mirror memory to your
Intelligent Key, you DO NOT need to perform this step again if new seat/steering/pedal/mirror
memory positions are saved in the future. New memory positions are automatically linked to your
Intelligent Key after step 5 is performed one time.
Entry/Exit function
This system is designed so that the driver’s seat will automatically move BACKWARD
and the steering wheel UP to ease entering and exiting the vehicle.
Entry/Exit is activated when:
■ the driver’s door is opened and the ignition switch is in the LOCK (OFF)
position.
■ the transmission is in the P (PARK) position, the driver’s door is closed and
the ignition is turned to the ON position.
The Entry/Exit function can be adjusted or
cancelled. With the ignition switch in the
ON position, press the SETTING button and select
Comfort & Conv. on the center Display Screen.
To turn ON the Entry/Exit functions individually,
highlight Lift Steering Wheel on Exit or Slide
Driver’s Seat Back on Exit, then press ENTER.

Anti-Glare button
HomeLink ®
Universal Transceiver
This feature can memorize up to three unique signals to operate devices
such as garage door openers.
Refer to your Programming Card for additional information on programming HomeLink ® .
Inside (Rear View) Mirror – Anti-Glare Feature
The anti-glare feature of the inside mirror automatically changes reflection
depending on the headlight intensity of the vehicle behind you. This feature is
automatically ON when the vehicle is started.
To Turn ON/OFF the Anti-Glare Feature:
1 Press the button on the inside mirror to turn OFF this feature. The indicator
light will go out.
2 Press the button again to turn the feature back ON. The indicator light will
illuminate.

To Turn ON/OFF the Compass and Outside Temperature Display:
1 Press the button on the inside mirror to turn OFF this feature.
2 Press the button again to turn the feature back ON.
To Change from ˚F to ˚C:
1 With the display ON, press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the
display flashes.
2 While the display is flashing, press the button again to switch between ˚F
and ˚C.
3 Release the button when the temperature reading of your choice is
displayed. The display will then flash for 5 seconds.

Outside (Side View) Mirrors
The outside mirrors:
■ Can automatically change reflection depending
on the headlight intensity of the vehicle behind
you.
See “To Turn ON/OFF the Anti-Glare Feature” for
instructions on turning OFF this feature.
■ Can be heated to defrost, defog, or de-ice for
improved visibility.
To turn ON this feature: Press the Rear Defroster switch.
Press this switch again to turn OFF this feature.
■ Provide additional turn signal visibility via
LED lights imbedded in the mirrors. The LED
signals light up and flash when the turn
signal lever is moved UP or DOWN to signal a
right or left turn.
To Adjust the Outside (Side View) Power Mirrors:
Turn the knob to select the right or left mirror.
Adjust the mirror to the desired position by
pushing the knob in the direction you want to
adjust the mirror to.
To Fold the Outside (Side View) Power Mirrors:
1 Press the button to fold the mirrors INWARD.
2 Press the button again to return the mirrors
to the OUTWARD position.

Front-Passenger Air Bag Status Light
This vehicle is equipped with the INFINITI
Advanced Air Bag System. Under some
conditions, depending on the type of occupant
or object detected in the front-passenger seat
by the occupant classification sensor, the
front-passenger air bag is designed to
automatically turn OFF. When the frontpassenger
air bag is OFF, the front-passenger
air bag status light will illuminate.*
For example:
■ When the system detects that the frontpassenger
seat is occupied by a small
adult, child, or child restraint as outlined
in the vehicle’s Owner’s Manual, the
will illuminate to indicate that the frontpassenger
air bag is OFF and will not
inflate in a crash.
■ When the front-passenger seat is
occupied and the passenger meets the
conditions outlined in the Owner’s
Manual, the will not illuminate to
indicate that the front-passenger air bag
is operational.
* When the system detects that the frontpassenger
seat is unoccupied, the
passenger air bag status light will not
illuminate even though the front-passenger
air bag is OFF.

operate most functions displayed on your vehicle’s center
Display Screen:

Infiniti Controller
Buttons located on or surrounding the INFINITI Controller serve various purposes for
navigating around the center Display Screen and choosing options. As you use the vehicle
controls, you will find the control combination that best suits your needs.
1 Center Dial
Turn the Center Dial to navigate UP, DOWN, and ACROSS the center Display Screen,
highlight items for additional information, and to make changes to settings.
2 Main Directional Buttons
Four Main Directional buttons (marked with arrows) on the face of the INFINITI
Controller can be used to perform the same functions as the Center Dial.
3 Additional Directional Buttons
Four additional buttons (marked with small dashes) are located between the Main
Directional buttons. When using the Navigation system for instance, these buttons can
be used in different ways to make “fine-tuned” movements around the Navigation Map
screen.
4 ENTER Button
Press the ENTER button to select a highlighted item.

5 BACK Button
Press to return to the previous function shown on the center Display Screen, and to
delete characters when using the on-screen keyboard.
6 VOICE Button
Press to repeat the Navigation instruction. See the Navigation section of this Guide
(beginning on page 28) for more detailed Navigation system information.

DAY/NIGHT/OFF/BRIGHTNESS Button
■ Press to switch the center Display Screen between day view and night
view.
■ While the adjustment bars appear on the screen, adjust the center
Display Screen brightness UP or DOWN by turning the INFINITI
Controller Center Dial or pressing the brightness UP (+) or brightness
DOWN (–) buttons.
■ Press and hold down to turn OFF the display. To resume display, press
and hold down again.
REAR CTRL
Press and release –
■ Turns the Rear Seat Audio/Video Controller ON ("REAR CONT ON" will
display).
Press and release again –
■ Turns the Rear Seat Audio/Video Controller OFF ("REAR CONT OFF" will
display).
SPEAKER CONTROL Button
With the Rear Seat Audio/Video Controller ON (see above, "REAR CTRL"):
■ Press to turn OFF the rear speakers and headphones ON.
■ Press again to turn ON the rear speakers and the headphones OFF.

The ICC system can be set to one of two cruise modes:
■ Vehicle-to-vehicle distance-control cruise
■ Conventional fixed-speed cruise
To Set Intelligent Cruise Control Vehicle-To-Vehicle Distance:
1 Press the CRUISE ON/OFF button for less than 1.5 seconds. The
indicator light (located on the meter and gauges display) will illuminate.
The set distance and set vehicle speed indicator lights will also
illuminate in STANDBY mode.
2 Accelerate to the desired speed.
3 Push DOWN on the COAST/SET switch and release it. Cruise Control should be
set to the desired speed.
■ When a vehicle IS NOT detected ahead of you in the lane, the set
distance and set vehicle speed indicator lights will illuminate in SET
mode.
■ When a vehicle IS detected ahead of you in the lane, the vehicle
ahead detection, set distance, and set vehicle speed indicator
lights will illuminate in SET mode.
To Set Cruise Control Fixed Speed:
1 While Cruise Control is OFF, press the CRUISE ON/OFF button and hold
down for more than 1.5 seconds. The indicator light will illuminate.
2 Accelerate to the desired speed.
3 Push DOWN on the COAST/SET switch and release it. The CRUISE SET
indicator light will illuminate. Cruise Control should be set to the desired
speed.
Note: There are certain conditions under which vehicle-to-vehicle distance-control and/or fixed-speed cruise
control cannot be set or will automatically cancel. Three such conditions are shown below.
■ When rain, snow, or dirt cover the system sensor (located in front bumper opening).
■ When the windshield wiper is operated at low or high speed.
■ When strong light shines directly on the front of the vehicle (i.e. sunrise or sunset).
To Switch Between the Two Cruise Control Modes:
When one of the two cruise modes is in use, you must turn OFF the system, and then
turn it ON again (as instructed above) to select the other Cruise Control mode.

the vehicle and is selected, press this button to:
■ initiate an INFINITI Voice Recognition session
■ answer an incoming call
■ skip through system feedback
■ enter commands during a call

■ Press at any time to change between radio preset banks A, B, and C; Music
Box; CD; Compact Flash; DVD (if so equipped); and AUX.
■ Press at any time during an INFINITI Voice Recognition session to cancel
the session and/or end a call.
4 Tuning Switch (Memory Change/Seek/FF-REW)
For Radio:
■ Push the switch UP or DOWN for less than 1.5 seconds to page through
the radio preset stations on the bank (A, B, or C) currently selected.
■ Push the switch UP or DOWN for more than 1.5 seconds to seek the next or
previous radio station on the band (AM, FM, or SAT) currently selected.
For Audio CDs and CDs with MP3/WMA:
■ Push the switch UP or DOWN for less than 1.5 seconds to return to the
beginning of the current track/folder/file or skip to the next
track/folder/file. Push several times to skip BACKWARD or FORWARD
through multiple tracks/folders/files.
■ Push the switch UP or DOWN for more than 1.5 seconds to change to the
next folder on the CD (CD with MP3/WMA).

Headlights
■ Parking, tail, license plate, and
instrument panel lights ON –
Turn the headlight switch to .
■ Headlights ON (all other lights remain on) –
Turn the headlight switch to .
■ Fog lights (if so equipped) ON – Turn the headlight switch to . Then, turn
the fog light switch to .
■ High beam ON – Push the lever FORWARD (away from you).
Autolight (Automatic Headlight) System Operation
The Autolight (Automatic Headlight) System can automatically:
■ Turn ON the headlights when it is dark.
■ Turn OFF the headlights when it is light.
■ Keep the headlights ON for 45 seconds after you turn the ignition switch to the
LOCK (OFF) position and close all doors (called Automatic Headlights Off
Delay).
To Activate the Autolight System: Turn the headlight switch to the AUTO position.
To Deactivate the Autolight System: Turn the headlight switch to the OFF,
or position.
The Autolight features described above can be modified (Auto Headlights Sensitivity)
and the timing changed or feature turned OFF (Auto Headlights Off Delay). To adjust
the settings: Press the SETTING button and select Comfort & Conv. on the center
Display Screen. Next, select the feature to be adjusted.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The low tire
pressure warning light will illuminate if the vehicle is being driven over 16 mph
and one or more tires is significantly under-inflated. The system also will display the
tire pressure of all tires (except the spare tire) on the center Display Screen.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
For most driving conditions, this vehicle should be driven with
the Vehicle Dynamic Control System (VDC) ON. The VDC system
operates whenever the engine is started and the vehicle is

All-Mode 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive)
(if so equipped)
The All-Mode 4WD system allows you to select four different
drive modes based on driving and weather conditions:
■ AUTO – For driving on paved or slippery roads.
With the switch set in the AUTO position, distribution
of traction to the front and rear wheels changes
On dash panel right of steering wheel
automatically depending on road conditions.
■ 2WD – For driving on dry, paved roads.
■ 4H – For driving on rocky, sandy, or snow-covered roads.
■ 4LO – For use when maximum power and traction is required
(for example, on steep grades or rocky, sandy, muddy roads).
Tow Mode On/Off
Tow Mode should be used when
pulling a heavy trailer or hauling a
heavy load.
To Turn ON Tow Mode:
1 Press the Tow Mode button. The indicator light on the button will illuminate
when Tow Mode is turned ON.
2 Press the Tow Mode button again to turn OFF Tow Mode.
Note: Tow Mode is automatically cancelled when the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position.
Advanced RearView Monitor
When the transmission is in the R (REVERSE)
position, the center Display Screen will automatically
change to view the area behind the vehicle.
Approximate distance to objects:
Green = 7 to 10 feet
Yellow = 3 feet
Red = 1.5 feet
Sonar System ON/OFF
The front sonar ( if so equipped) is active and automatically turns ON when
the ignition switch is in the ON position and the transmission is in a D
(Drive) position. When driving at speeds below 3 mph, the system sounds
a tone to warn the driver of obstacles up to six feet from the front bumper.
The rear sonar is active when the ignition switch is in the ON position
and the transmission is in the R (REVERSE) position. When driving at speeds below
3 mph, the system sounds a tone to warn the driver of obstacles up to six feet from
the rear bumper.
The sonar system can be disabled by pressing the Sonar OFF button. When the
system is disabled, the indicator light on the button will illuminate. Press the button
again to enable the system. The indicator light will go off. The system will
automatically reset the next time the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

Heater and Air Conditioner
(Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control)
To Turn ON the Climate Control System:
Press the PUSH•AUTO knob to turn ON the system.
Note: The Climate Control system will activate using the settings last selected.
The AUTO mode can be used year round. It allows the system to self adjust
to constantly maintain a selected temperature (automatic cooling and/or
dehumidified heating). Air flow distribution and fan speed are also
controlled automatically.
Standard AUTO Mode vs. DUAL Mode
■ Standard AUTO mode allows the driver to control temperature for self
and passenger.
■ DUAL mode allows the driver and passenger to control their own cabin
temperatures.
Press the PUSH•DUAL knob to turn ON/OFF the DUAL mode. An indicator
light next to the PUSH•DUAL knob illuminates and the word “DUAL” can be
seen on the center Display Screen when DUAL mode is operating.
Whenever the PUSH•DUAL knob is turned while the system is operating,
DUAL mode will also be turned ON.
To Change Temperature Settings:
comfort
■ In AUTO mode, the driver can adjust the temperature for themselves
and passenger by turning the driver side dial LEFT (to decrease) or
RIGHT (to increase).
■ In DUAL mode, the driver and the passenger can turn their dial to
adjust their own temperature setting.
To Control Fan Speed:
1 Press the Fan Speed Control buttons to manually adjust fan speed UP
or DOWN. The illuminated fan speed indicator on the center Display
Screen will change as fan speed is increased/decreased. The mode
will change from AUTO to MANUAL mode (“AUTO” no longer appears
on the screen).
2 Push the PUSH•AUTO knob to return to automatic control of fan
speed.

To Turn OFF the Climate Control System:
Press the OFF button. will briefly display on the center Display
Screen.
To Turn ON the Air Conditioning:
Press the A/C button until is briefly displayed on the center
Display Screen and the indicator light on the A/C button turns ON.
To Turn ON the Heat:
1 Press the A/C button until is briefly displayed on the
center Display Screen and the indicator light on the A/C button turns OFF.
2 Turn the PUSH•AUTO knob RIGHT or LEFT (in Standard AUTO mode) or the
PUSH•DUAL knob RIGHT or LEFT (in DUAL mode) to increase or decrease
the cabin temperature.
Note: For optimum system operation, DO NOT set the inside cabin temperature lower than the outside
air temperature.
To Choose Fresh or Recirculated Air:
Press the Air Recirculation (Inside Air) button for maximum A/C cooling
performance and to prevent unwanted outside odors from entering the vehicle.
The indicator light on the side of the button will illuminate and
will briefly display on the center Display Screen.
Notes:
■ Recirculated Air mode cannot be activated when the system is set to A/C and the front Defroster
is ON.
■ Extended use of recirculated air may cause the inside of the windows to fog up.
To Manually Change Air Flow:
Press the MODE button repeatedly to select air flow location.
Air flows from center and side vents.
Air flows from center and side vents, plus foot outlets.
Air flows mainly from foot outlets.
Air flows from the front defroster and foot outlets.
Note: The air flow indicator symbols will illuminate on the center Display Screen.
Front and Rear Defroster
To Turn ON/OFF the Front Defroster:
1 Press the front Window Defroster button to turn it ON. The indicator light
will illuminate on the front Defroster button and the front defrost indicator
symbol will illuminate on the center Display Screen.
Notes: When you press this button, you may hear a click noise from the engine area. This is
normal. The Air Conditioner compressor is being activated. With A/C ON, moisture is pulled from
the air, helping to defrost the inside of the windows more quickly.
2 Turn the PUSH•AUTO knob RIGHT or LEFT to set the desired temperature.

3 Press the + Fan Speed Control button to set fan speed to maximum.
4 Press the front Window Defroster button again to turn it OFF, or push the
PUSH•AUTO knob to return to Standard AUTO mode.
To Turn ON/OFF the Rear Defroster:
1 Press the rear Window Defroster button to turn it ON. The indicator light
will illuminate on the rear Defroster button and will
briefly display on the center Display Screen.
2 Press the button again to turn it OFF. will briefly display
on the center Display Screen. Or, it will turn OFF automatically after
approximately 15 minutes.

How To Customize Your Radio Presets
With the PRESET A-B-C button, you can program up to 18 radio stations (AM, FM,
and SAT*) into 3 separate preset memory banks—6 stations for each PRESET
bank.
1 Press the PRESET A-B-C button to select bank A, B, or C.
Note: The PRESET A, B, or C indicator will illuminate on the center Display Screen to show which
bank is activated.
2 Press the AM•FM•SAT button to select the AM, FM, or SAT band.
3 Tune to the desired station using the SEEK•CAT or TRACK buttons, or the
TUNE/FLDR·PUSH/AUDIO knob.
4 Press and hold down the desired
Station Preset/Disc Select button (1 – 6)
until you hear a “beep” sound.
5 Repeat the above steps to program up to 18 stations.
Note: AM, FM, and SAT* stations can be mixed within any of the A, B, or C preset banks.

To Record a CD to the Hard Disk:
1 Operate the audio system to play a CD.
2 Select the “REC” key on the center Display Screen or by using the INFINITI
Controller, and then push the Enter button.
Automatic Recording
If the “Automatic Recording” function is turned ON, recording to the “Music Box”
starts when a CD begins to play.
■ Turn ON this feature by selecting the Music Box Setting menu item on the
center Display Screen. Select Automatic Recording, then press ENTER.

Playing Recorded Songs
Select the “Music Box” audio system by using one of the following methods:
■ Press the MODE/END button on the steering wheel, then press ENTER.
■ Press the MUSIC BOX button. The center Display Screen will change to the
Music Box mode.
■ Say the "Music Box Play" voice command using the INFINITI Voice
Recognition system.
Stopping Playback
The “Music Box” system stops playing when:
■ Another mode (radio, CD, Compact Flash,
or AUX) is selected.
■ The audio system is turned OFF.
■ The ignition switch is turned to the OFF
position.
Searching Missing Titles
If titles are not displayed for CDs recorded to
Music Box, titles can be acquired
using one of the following methods:
■ Retrieve from HDD – Search for the title
using the Gracenote ® database in the
hard-disk.
■ Transfer Missing Titles to Compact Flash
– Select the Menu button on the Music
Box screen. Then transfer the information
of the album recorded without titles and
TitleInfoSearch.exe onto a Compact-
Flash (CF) card.

insert a Compact Flash card into the slot.

playing, push the VOL (Volume)/Push ON·OFF knob to restart the Compact
Flash card.

button again to turn rear controls off.

Bluetooth ® Hands-Free Phone System
With an overhead microphone and sound transmitted through
the audio system speaker, the Bluetooth ® Hands-Free Phone
system utilizes Bluetooth ® wireless technology and voice
recognition to provide hands-free cellular phone communication.
Pairing Your Phone
Before you can use the hands-free feature, you will need to set-up,
or pair, the system to recognize your cellular phone(s). Up to 5
Bluetooth ® -enabled phones can be paired to this system. After the
initial one-time set-up, the system will automatically connect
upon start-up as long as your phone is in range and available. The
pairing procedure for cellular phones varies according to each
manufacturer.

Switching to a Different Paired Phone
1 Press the SETTING button .

Up to 40 phone numbers can be stored in the phonebook.

5 Choose one of the following options on the center Display Screen:
Enter Data by Keypad: Manually input names/numbers.
Copy from Downloaded Phonebook:
Depending on your cellular phone, you may be
able to copy your entire phonebook from your
cellular phone to the vehicle’s phonebook. If
this option is available, “Transfer phonebook
from connected phone?” will display on the
center Display Screen. Highlight Yes and press
ENTER if you wish to copy the entire cellular
phone phonebook to the vehicle’s phonebook.
Copy from Outgoing Call Logs: Choose names/numbers from a list of calls
you’ve made.

Transfer via Bluetooth: Activates the Bluetooth ® connection. Depending on
your cellular phone, you may be able to transfer a person’s name and phone
number directly from your cellular phonebook to the in-vehicle phonebook
via Bluetooth ® . This procedure varies according to each manufacturer.
Please refer to your cellular phone Owner’s Manual for details.
6 When the “Add a voicetag?” screen appears, highlight Yes and press ENTER to add a
voicetag (voice-activated speed dial command used with the INFINITI Voice
Recognition system). The system will respond “Please say a name after the tone.”
7 After the tone, clearly say the name of the contact.
Making a Phone Call
1 Press the PHONE button .
2 Highlight Call (Phonebook), then press ENTER.
3 Highlight the name of the person you wish to dial, and then press ENTER. Dialing
will begin.
Increasing or Decreasing the Volume of
Outgoing Calls
If you dial someone and are told that the volume
on your call is too loud or too soft, perform the
following steps to increase or decrease volume:
1 Press the SETTING button .
2 Highlight Volume and Beeps, then press
ENTER.
3 Highlight Outgoing Call, then press ENTER.
4 Use the steering wheel ENTER button, the INFINITI Controller Dial or the
LEFT/RIGHT Main Directional buttons on the INFINITI Controller to increase or
decrease the Outgoing Call volume. When the volume is adjusted to your liking,
press the ENTER button to set it.
Receiving a Phone Call
When you receive a phone call, the Phone menu screen will display and a
ringing tone will sound through your audio system.
To Accept the Call: Press the PHONE/TALK button .
To Reject the Call: Highlight Reject Call on the center Display Screen, then
press ENTER.
Ending a Phone Call
To “hang up” your phone at the end of a call or to disconnect during call
placement:
■ Press the MODE/END button on the steering wheel.
OR
■ Highlight Hang up on the center Display Screen, then press ENTER.

INFINITI Voice Recognition System
The INFINITI Voice Recognition system allows hands-free operation of many vehicle
features, such as Vehicle Information, Audio, Heater and Air Conditioner, Phone,
and Navigation. For better voice recognition performance, the system is equipped
with a function to “learn” or memorize the voices of up to two system users.
To Operate the INFINITI Voice Recognition System:
1 Turn the ignition switch to ACC or ON position.
2 Push and release the PHONE/TALK button on the steering wheel. The
system will request that you speak a command and it will sound a tone.
3 Say a command.
Notes:
■ When your command is accepted, audible responses will be heard and messages shown on the center
Display Screen.
■ If the command is not recognized, the system will respond “Please say again.” Repeat the command
in a clear voice.
■ To cancel a command, press and hold the PHONE/TALK button on the steering wheel for 2
seconds. The system will respond “Voice cancelled.”
■ To increase or decrease the volume of system responses, push the Volume Control (+ or -) switch on
the steering wheel or turn the VOL (VOLUME)/Push ON·OFF knob while the system is responding. The
volume can also be adjusted in the SETTINGS/Volume and Beeps menu.
System Operating Tips:
■ Close all windows. Surrounding noises may interfere with system operation.
■ Operate the system when the vehicle interior is relatively quiet. Set the
Heater/Air Conditioning system to “AUTO” mode, which will decrease fan
speed to an ideal level.
■ After pressing the PHONE/TALK button , wait for the tone before speaking.
■ Speak in a clear and natural voice without pausing between words.
Verbal Command Tips:
■ For the Navigation system, Voice Recognition is programmed with exact street
name information. For example, if the street name is Main Street South, you
must say “Main Street South,” not “Main Street,” when prompted.
If there is a possibility that a street has several different names based on
location (e.g. Main Street South, East Main Street, etc.), you should manually
enter the street address in order to view all available street name choices.

■ When using Voice Recognition to program a destination in the Navigation
system, for the number “0” say “zero” not “oh.”

■ For some voice-controlled functions, compound numbers (two or more digits
together) may be spoken. For example, to go to FM station 98.1, you may say
“Tune ninety-eight point one FM.”
■ When saying street addresses and phone numbers, however, saying
compound numbers may result in a destination seek or phone dial error.
For best results, say street addresses and phone numbers as single digits.
For example, say 20360 as “two, zero, three, six, zero” not “twenty, three
sixty.
■ If Voice Recognition is having difficulty accepting a state, cities, or street name,
try speaking the name phonetically. For example, for “Oregon” say “Ore Egg On.”
INFINITI Voice Recognition Command Lists
You can view a group of “Command Lists” on the center Display Screen. This is
helpful when using Voice Recognition commands with Phone, Navigation, Vehicle
Information, Audio/Visual, and Heater/Air Conditioner features.
To Access the Command Lists Using Voice Recognition:
1 Push the PHONE/TALK button on the steering wheel. The system will
request that you speak a command.
2 Wait for the tone and say “Help.”
3 The Command List categories will display on the center Display Screen.
Highlight the desired selection, then press ENTER.
4 The system will display a list of specific Voice Recognition commands available
within your selection.
To ensure maximum success when using the INFINITI Voice Recognition
system, please remember to use the correct commands.

■ Press to switch the center Display Screen between day view and night view.
■ Within approximately 5 seconds of pressing, you can adjust the center
Display Screen brightness UP or DOWN by turning the INFINITI
Controller Center Dial or pressing the LEFT/RIGHT Main Directional
buttons.
■ Press and hold down to turn the display OFF entirely. To resume display,
press and hold down again.
Selecting Navigation Settings
There are three methods for selecting Navigation settings and programming information into
the Navigation system. You can:
■ Use Voice Commands. Press the PHONE/TALK button on the steering wheel. The
system will request that you speak a command, followed by a tone to initiate a Voice
Recognition session.
For a detailed list of Navigation commands, refer to Voice recognition in your 2008 INFINITI
Navigation System Owner’s Manual.
OR
■ Use the Touch Screen feature. Select menu items on the center Display Screen by
touching the screen.
OR
■ Use the INFINITI Controller. Scroll through the highlighted items shown on the center
Display Screen and select them by pressing ENTER.
Storing Your Home Address (and Other Addresses) in Your Address Book
1 Press the DEST button .
2 Highlight Home (Add New), then press ENTER.
3 "Home location not stored. Store now?” will appear
on the screen. Highlight Yes, then press ENTER.
4 Highlight Street Address, then press ENTER.
5 Input the House Number by highlighting each
character and pressing ENTER.
6 Once complete, highlight OK and press ENTER.
7 Input the Street Name by highlighting each character and pressing ENTER. To insert a
space, highlight Space and press ENTER.
8 Once complete, highlight List and press ENTER.

9 Highlight the correct street and city from the list,
then press ENTER.
10 Press ENTER again. “Home Location Stored” will
appear on screen.
11 Press the MAP button to return to the Map screen.

■ You can store other addresses using the procedure above. After you
press the DEST button, highlight Address Book and press ENTER.
Highlight None (Add New), then press ENTER and repeat the rest of
the steps above.
■ In step 4, you may also choose alternate ways to store an address,
including Map and Previous Dest. (Destinations). Refer to your
2008 INFINITI Navigation System Owner’s Manual for more
information.
■ A unique sound (e.g. a chime, a dog bark, etc.) can be “attached” to
your Home or Other Addresses in your Address Book. If a sound is
attached to an Address Book entry, whenever you approach that
location, the sound will be heard.

Deleting Addresses in Your Address Book
1 Press the SETTING button .
2 Highlight Navigation, then press ENTER.
3 Highlight Address Book, then press ENTER.
4 Highlight Delete Stored Items, then press ENTER.
5 Highlight the location to be deleted, then press
ENTER.
6 “Delete stored location?” will appear on the screen,
highlight Yes, then press ENTER.
7 Press the MAP button to return to the Map screen.
Turning Voice Guidance ON/OFF and Adjusting Volume
1 Press the ROUTE button .
2 Highlight Guidance Settings, then press ENTER.
3 Highlight Guidance Voice.
4 Press ENTER to choose ON or OFF. The indicator
light will illuminate ON when Voice Guidance is ON.
To Adjust Voice Guidance Volume:
1 Press the SETTING button .
2 Highlight Volume and Beeps, then press ENTER.
3 Highlight Guidance Vol., then press ENTER.
4 Adjust the voice guidance volume by turning the INFINITI Controller Dial or pressing the
LEFT/RIGHT Main Direction buttons, then press ENTER.

Switching Map Views
You can switch between two Navigation Map views: Plan View and Birdview.
In addition, you have the choice of two different "Split Views."
1 While the Map screen is displayed, press ENTER.
2 Highlight Map Settings, then press ENTER.
3 Highlight Change View, then press ENTER.
4 Highlight your preferred Map, then press ENTER.
A red indicator light located inside the Map View
chosen will illuminate to show that it has been
selected.
5 Press the MAP button to return to the Map screen.
Where am I?
1 Press the INFO button .
2 Highlight Where am I?, then press ENTER. The
names of the next, current, and previous street will
display.
Store Current Location
You can store the current physical location of your vehicle in your Address Book.
1 While the Map screen is displayed, press ENTER.
2 Highlight Store Location, then press ENTER.
3 A confirmation message will appear, confirming that the location has been stored to your
Address Book. The location will be stored in the first available position in your Address
Book.
4 Press the MAP button to return to the Map screen.
Programming A Destination
There are several methods you can use to program your Navigation system to Guide you to a
desired destination point. Shown on page 31 – 33 are three of the most common destination
programming methods.
Refer to Setting a destination in your 2008 INFINITI Navigation System Owner’s Manual for additional available methods.
Note: The vehicle must be stationary before performing destination programming.
Programming A Destination – Street Address
1 Press the DEST button .
2 Highlight Street Address, then press ENTER.
3 Input the House Number by highlighting each
character and pressing ENTER.
4 Once complete, highlight OK and press ENTER.

5 Input the Street Name by highlighting each
character and pressing ENTER. To insert a space,
highlight space and press ENTER.
6 Once complete, highlight List and press ENTER.
7 Highlight the correct street and city from the list,
then press ENTER.
8 Highlight Start, then press ENTER to set the
destination, calculate the route, and begin route
guidance.
Note: Routes Details, Move Dest., and Store Dest. are options available
in addition to Start.

1 Press the DEST button .

If Hotel is highlighted, another list of specific hotel chain names is provided from which you can choose.

Programming A Destination – Nearby Places
1 Press the DEST button .

4 Highlight the desired selection from the list, then press ENTER.

Route Guidance
Route guidance is provided through voice and visual guidance instructions.
Viewing Traffic Information
Note: SAT Radio and a XM subscription with XM Traffic has to be activated in order for your vehicle to access XM Traffic
Information. Complete XM Traffic Information is not available in all areas.
During Route Guidance you can modify the route conditions. You can use the Traffic
Information Settings to display details on the route
when driving with Traffic Information taken into
consideration.
Note: Only in areas covered by XM Traffic.
1 Press the INFO button .
2 Highlight Traffic Info. then press ENTER.
3 Highlight Info. on Route, then press ENTER. A list
screen will display.
4 Select the event that you desire to check, then
press ENTER.
Searching for a Detour Route
When a traffic situation occurs on a route, this feature
allows you to calculate a detour route.
1 Press the ROUTE button .
2 Highlight Traffic Detour, then press ENTER.
3 When a detour search is successful, detailed
information about the detour route (left side of the
screen) and the comparison screen of the two
routes (right side of the screen) will display.
■ Yellow: Original Route
■ Pink: Detour Route
4 If you want to set the detour route as the new
route, select Yes, then press ENTER.
Resuming a Route
1 Press the ROUTE button .
2 Highlight Resume Route, then press ENTER.
3 “Resume previous route?” will appear on screen.
4 Highlight Yes, then press ENTER.

Heated Steering Wheel
The heated steering wheel is designed to operate
when the surface temperature of the steering wheel is
below approximately ˚86 F.
■ Press the Heated Steering Wheel button to turn
ON this feature. Press it again to turn OFF this
feature.
■ The system will automatically turn OFF when the
steering wheel temperature reaches
approximately ˚86.
Seat Switches, Front Power Adjustment
10-way Power Driver’s Seat including
Power Lumbar Adjustment
8-way Power Front-Passenger’s Seat
To Adjust Power Seats:
■ Forward and Backward – Move the switch forward
or backward to slide the seat forward or
backward.
■ Seat Lifter – Press the front or rear side of the
switch up or down to adjust the angle and height
of the seat cushion.
■ Seat Back Reclining – Press the top of the switch
forward or backward to adjust the seatback to the
desired recline or upright angle.
To Adjust Lumbar Support:
■ Lumbar Support – Press the front or rear side of the switch forward or backward to
adjust the angle and lower back support .

Power Lift Gate
To Open the Power Lift Gate:
Press the Power Lift Gate button or the Back Door Electronic
Release button.
The Power Lift Gate button is found in two locations:
■ On the instrument panel, left of the steering wheel
■ On the Intelligent Key
Press either button for longer than half a second.
The Back Door Electronic Release button is found:
■ Under the rear license plate. Press and quickly release
the BACK DOOR ELECTRONIC RELEASE button.
To Close the Power Lift Gate:

■ Push the Close/Cancel switch on the left rear hatch pillar (see below).
■ Press either Power Lift Gate button (on the instrument panel or the Intelligent
Key).
Notes:
■ The hazard indicators and outside (side view) mirror LED turn signals will flash and a beep will sound
to indicate the open or close sequence has started.
■ If an obstacle is detected, or if you press the Power Lift Gate or Back Door
Electronic Release button while open or close function is operating, the door
will reverse direction immediately and a beep will sound to indicate reverse
action.
■ The transmission must be in the P (PARK) position and the hatch glass must
be closed to operate the power lift gate.
■ To open the lift gate manually, press up on the outside handle. To close,
lower and push the lift gate down securely.
Power Lift Gate Close/Cancel Switch
Push this switch to the Cancel position to disable the Close
function of this switch.
Notes:
Pushing the Cancel side of the switch while the door is automatically closing
WILL NOT stop the door from closing.

Fold Flat Front-Passenger Seat
For your convenience, the front-passenger seat can be folded
flat to allow for storage of long items.
To Fold the Front-Passenger Seat Flat:
1 Push BACK on the seat reverse switch to
move the seat as far back as it will go.
2 Push FORWARD on the seat recline switch to
fold the seatback as far forward as it will go.
3 Then, lift UP on the seatback release latch.
With the seatback released, fold the front-passenger
seatback flat against the seat cushion.
To Return the Front-Passenger Seat to the Standard
Position:
1 Lift UP and BACK on the seatback.
2 Push it all the way to the upright position, until it
locks in place.
3 Use the seat reverse and seat recline switches to
adjust the seat to the desired position.
2nd Row Seats
To “Tip Forward” the 2nd Row Seats for Entry to 3rd Row:
Using the seatback release latch, seat reclining lever, and
the seat bottom release strap, the 2nd row seats can be
“tipped forward” for passenger entry to the 3rd row seats
and folded flat for maximum cargo hauling/extra storage
space.
1 Raise the armrest UP to the stowed position.
2 Lift UP on the seatback release latch. The seatback
will tip FORWARD to allow entry to the 3rd row.
To Return the 2nd Row Seats to the Standard Position:
1 Pull UP and push BACK on the seat to return
it to its original position and lock in place.
2 Then, push BACK on the seatback to lock it in place.
3 Use the seat reclining lever to adjust the seat to the
desired position.

To Fold the 2nd Row Seats Flat:
1 Raise the armrest UP to the stowed position.
2 Pull the seat bottom release strap to fold the seat
bottom forward.
3 Then, pull UP on the seat reclining lever. The seatback
will flip forward and lock in place.
Note: There is a carpet panel flap on the back side of the seatback that can
be folded toward the back of the vehicle to provide a level cargo floor when
the 3rd row seats are also folded flat.
To Return the 2nd Row Seats to the Standard Position:
1 Return the carpet panel flap to the back side of the
seatback and secure it in place.
2 Pull UP on the seat reclining lever while you lift UP
and push BACK on the seatback. Return the seatback
to the upright position until it locks in place.
3 Return the seat bottom backward to its original
position until it locks in place.
4 Use the seat reclining lever to adjust the seat to the
desired position.
3rd Row 60-40 Split Bench Seats
The 3rd row 60-40 split bench seats can also be folded flat
for maximum cargo hauling/extra storage space.
Note: The power folding seats only operate when the transmission is in the
P (PARK) or N (NEUTRAL) position.
To Lower or Raise the 60-40 Split 3rd Row Bench Seats:
1 First, release and store the center seat belt and
retractor. (See 3rd row, Center Seat Belt Storage).
2 Lower the head restraints, then pull UP on the latch
located on the outside corner of each seatback and
fold the seatback forward.
3rd Row 60-40 Seats Power Folding (if so equipped):
1 Press and hold the DOWN portion of the left side 3rd
row seat switch to lower the driver’s side third row
seat, or the right-side switch controls to lower the
passenger-side third row seat.
2 To return the seats to an upright position, press the
UP portion of the corresponding switch.

3rd Row, Center Seat Belt Storage
Note: Belt storage position is for use ONLY when folding down the 60-40
split 3rd row bench seat.
1 To release the seat belt connector tongue, insert a
suitable tool (like a key) into the opening on the side
of the connector buckle.
2 Retract the seat belt up to the retractor base (located
in the rear storage ceiling area).
3 Insert the seat belt tongue into the fabric sleeve so
that it will lay flat.
4 Secure the connector tongue into the retractor base.
Automatic Moonroof Controls
■ To open the moonroof, push the moonroof open
switch toward the open position.
■ To close the moonroof, push the switch toward the
close position.
■ To open or close the moonroof part way: push the
switch in any direction while the moonroof is sliding
open or closed to stop it in the desired position.
To Tilt the Moonroof:
■ To tilt the moonroof up, push the sunroof tilt switch
toward the up position.
■ To tilt the moonroof down, push the tilt switch toward
the down position.
Note: Pushing the tilt switch when the moonroof is open, will automatically
close and then tilt up.
