Master Elite
Sensor-based Stethoscope

Designed to provide a durable, easy to use Stethoscope,
for increased amplitude of high quality auscultation.
Congratulations on purchasing the new Meditron Master Elite!
This stethoscope was designed using a well-proven, yet new and
exciting sensor technology. Over several decades, many attempts have
been made to produce a high quality stethoscope that will amplify and
reproduce sounds better than a mechanical stethoscope, yet maintain
the quality of the sound to be free of interfering noise.
The Meditron Master Elite - Innovation in Auscultation
technology.
With it's excellent frequency response, the Meditron Master Elite
should enable you to pick up all the difficult sounds such as diastolic
rumbles, gallop sounds, high pitch wheezes/crackles and Korotkof
sounds. You can choose to listen to them at normal amplitude, or at
amplitude up to a maximum of 93 dB. Furthermore, as with all our
sensor-based stethoscopes, the Master Elite is equipped with a port
allowing users to access computers for personal training or patient
documentation.
Unique Features
• Master Elite has a frequency range of 20-20.000 Hz. For optimal
heart and lung sounds the main focus is:
1. Bell mode, "Heart" 20-420 Hz.
2. Diaphragm mode, "Lungs" 350-1900 Hz.
• Volume is amplified up to 93 dB.
• Light weight (170g), easy to carry around your neck, as well
as in your pocket.
• Equipped with cable port for:
- PC connection for sound recordings, patient documentation
and analysis of findings. (Phonocardiogram with ECG)
- Interactive teaching of students
- Telemedicine
- Access to Internet.

Chestpiece
The Meditron Master Elite chestpiece is wide enough in diameter to
allow for a stable and comfortable base during auscultation. However,
the area of the actual sensor is only about 1/8
of an inch centered in the white circular
region of the chestpiece. This will allow you to
access bodysounds even on small and uneven
surface such as with small children. In some
patients, sounds may be more difficult to
detect than others. The Meditron sensor is
highly directional and can pick up faint signals with great ease.
Note:
Some male patients have thicker hair that may cause disturbing scratching. A little dab of
body lotion or ultrasound gel on the patient's area of auscultation will stop the scratching
and give you remarkable noise-free auscultation. Contrary to membrane-based stethoscopes,
you will not do harm to the sound or the stethoscope using this technique.
Bell/Diaphragm
Using the button on the top of the stethoscope, you can select bell
mode (focusing on low frequencies, 20-420 Hz) by pressing the heart
symbol on the lower part of the on-off button
Note:
Bell mode provides excellent
detection for low and medium
heart sounds and murmurs
such as diastolic rumbles,
gallop rhythms, etc.
To change to diaphragm mode, (focusing on medium to high
frequencies, 350 - 1900 Hz) simply turn the stethoscope off and
turn it back on using the upper part of the on-off button.
Note:
Diaphragm mode is excellent for higher pitch murmurs, clicks and
ejection sounds as well as pulmonary sounds.

Volume:
Once the stethoscope is turned on in bell or diaphragm mode, you can
adjust to the desired volume by pressing the upper or lower part of the
on-off button to increase or decrease volume. You will not affect the
bell or diaphragm mode as long as the stethoscope is kept turned on.
Only by turning it off and then back on will you change the frequency
mode. Max volume is 93 dB.
Headset adjustment
With our new earpiece design, you are able to rotate the individual
earpiece to your own comfort. By rotating the eartips, you will discover
that this is more flexible than twisting and bending the binaurals.
Eartips;
You can clean the eartips by using alcohol or
chlorhexidine swabs. The eartips can be
replaced by slowly twisting them off, and
gently turning the new ones on in a clockwise
motion. Caution! Be careful not to close the
eartips with your fingers when twisting. If
closed, the eartips will create air-pressure that
may damage the speakers in the earpieces.

Connection to other Meditron products using your
Master Elite stethoscope:
5079-402 Meditron Analyzer w/ECG
will allow you to record and listen to your
patient's sounds by viewing the
Phonocardiogram and ECG on your computer.
This is ideal for recording, analyzing and
documenting your findings, both as additional
clinical documentation and to objectively
measure the patient's progress.
5079-401 Meditron Distributor
is a portable co-listening unit for teaching
(up to 5 people) with the exact same sound
quality for all people connected. This ideal
bedside teaching tool can be used as well to
consult a colleague for a second opinion.
Care and Maintenance:
• It is important to clean and disinfect your stethoscope to prevent
possible cross-contamination.
• Eartubes can be wiped down with alcohol, chlorhexidine or with
a wet cotton swab. Take care not to let water enter into the
stethoscope as this may cause damage.
• Batteries may be replaced by sliding back the cover underneath the
stethoscope head. Expected battery life time is app. 200 hours.

Warranty:
Your Master Elite comes with 1 year warranty. During the warranty
period, Welch Allyn will repair or replace the damaged parts at no
charge. Extended warranty may apply to students.
This warranty does not cover damage in shipment or failure caused by
tampering, obvious carelessness or abuse. Return the unit for service to
