California Central Coast Porsche Club Of America October 2009 Editor’s Exhaust Bob Mayberry, CCCR Ed. As we enter October, we’re busy, busy, busy. Activities Chair, Dave Mills, is working on several events including the Member’s BBQ. Jeff Bucher is working on “City Slickers”, a Horseback ride, etc. Alyce is busy preparing for and raising sponsor monies for the Concours at the Coast. Porsche is the Marque this year and Alyce is working (primarily alone) to make this a big deal. Alyce asks that anyone that wants to help, contact her at 805-441-5384 or 528-2841. If you can help raise money for this event contact her also. She’s close but could use some help in this area as well as at the event itself. Call her to find out what you can do to support your club. At long last I shoveled out a bunch of “stuff” from the garage. My ’56 coupe is stored in a storage garage and now, Alyce’s 996 occupies the right half of the garage and her black 928 occupies the left side, while the Pontiac and the Miata occupy the driveway pad and my pickemup truck sleeps on the north side of the house. Those who’ve seen my truck can see the north side hibernation as this Ranger has lichen growing out of the paint on the hood and cab top. She ain’t much to look at but she runs well. We have several Regions now, planning on incorporating our Concours at the Coast event (October 25) at the Avila Beach Golf Resort, into a weekend Region event for their Region. Tour to the Central Coast roads, wineries, shops, etc. and attend the Concours. Now there’s a way to play. Be sure to introduce yourself to those you don’t know. You may find they’ve come a ways to attend, and you may have lots in common to talk about. Alyce and I have made friends throughout Zone 8 and Zone 7, plus a lot more at Parade from all over the PCA. Next month, I will try to outline the method for getting into the PCA website. Why would you want to do that? To update your information. That is the information you filled out when you filled out the application (maybe long ago). Since then, you’ve likely moved, changed phone number or email address, maybe a spouse or Associate member. Remember, we send what we call email blasts to our members. Blasts are a tickler or reminder email about an event (usually), more as a reminder but possibly as an item that just came up. Sometimes an event fails due to no participation, the place closed or any of many reasons. So we quickly come up with something anew and send a blast to the members about it. So it’s good to keep your email address current. I can do this for you, but having a login to the PCA site gets you to much more than the regular public. Watch for this next month.
