2.2.4. GEAR FLUID IE361 – C364<br />

CAUTION Use only recommended oil, see (LUBRICANT<br />

CHART).<br />

• Ride several kilometers (miles) to warm up the engine<br />

to operating temperature and then stop the engine.<br />

Check<br />

• Position the vehicle on firm and level ground.<br />

• Position the vehicle on the center stand.<br />

WARNING<br />

Allow several minutes for the engine and<br />

exhaust system to cool down.<br />

• Unscrew and extract the plug/dipstick.<br />

• Clean the part in contact with the oil with a clean cloth.<br />

• Tighten the plug/dipstick fully into the filler opening.<br />

• Extract the plug/dipstick again and check the oil level<br />

on the dipstick.<br />

• The correct level is achieved when the oil reaches<br />

approximately the second mark over the dot.<br />

• If necessary, top up.<br />

TOPPING UP<br />

• Pour a small quantity of oil into the filler opening. Allow<br />

one minute for the oil to flow into the crankcase.<br />

• Check the oil level and top up if necessary.<br />

• Top up by adding small quantities of oil, until reaching<br />

the prescribed level.<br />

• When finished, tighten the plug/dipstick.<br />

CAUTION Do not use the vehicle when lubricant levels are<br />

low or the lubricant has become contaminated. Use<br />

specified lubricants only. Improper lubrication will lead to<br />

moving part fretting, resulting in irreparable damage.<br />
