MIXER OIL TANK<br />

Carefully read p. 2 (GENERAL SAFETY RULES).<br />

CAUTION<br />

Carefully wash your hands after handling the oil.<br />

Dispose of the oil properly.<br />

KEEP OIL AWAY FROM CHILDREN.<br />

WARNING<br />

If you should run the mixer oil tank dry, the engine<br />

will seize. This could cause an upset, or other accident,<br />

with subsequent serious injury or even death.<br />

CHECKING<br />

Carefully read above (MIXER OIL TANK).<br />

CHECKING THE MIXER OIL LEVEL GAUGE UNIT<br />

♦ Remove the saddle support, see p. 29 (REMOVING<br />

THE SADDLE SUPPORT).<br />

CAUTION<br />

Handle with care.<br />

Do not force tubes or cables.<br />

♦ Remove the mixer oil level gauge unit (1).<br />

♦ Verify the efficiency of the mixer oil level gauge unit<br />

(1), p. 95 (CHECKING THE MIXER OIL LEVEL<br />

SENSOR).<br />

CHECKING THE MIXER OIL FILTER<br />

♦ Empty the mixer oil tank completely, see below<br />

(DRAINING).<br />

♦ Check, and if necessary, wash the filter (2), and the<br />

filtering element with a fireproof solvent, removing all<br />

deposits and foreign matter.<br />

DRAINING<br />

Carefully read above (MIXER OIL TANK).<br />

♦ Remove the rear part of the fairing, see p. 22 (RE-<br />

MOVING THE REAR PART OF THE FAIRING).<br />

♦ Remove the tank cap (3).<br />

♦ Place a container of at least 2 l (2.11 US qt) capacity<br />

under the filter coupling to catch the oil.<br />

♦ Cut the hose clamp (4) which attaches the hose to the<br />

filter (2) and remove.<br />

NOTE Upon reassembly, this clamp will be replaced<br />

with a screwdriver type worm clamp of the appropriate<br />

size. This clamp may be obtained from local sources.<br />

♦ Disconnect the filter (2) from the mixer oil tank (5).<br />

CAUTION<br />

Position and tie the filter (2) vertically, so that the<br />

residual oil left in the tube (6) cannot flow out.<br />

♦ Put all the drained oil in an appropriate container, close<br />

it and store it in a safe place.<br />
