Designed with flexibility in mind
Philips Gardco engineers set out to create a solution to address all of the specific lighting and energy savings needs for
any parking garage application. Whether you are looking for the lowest wattage LED based solution to meet IES design
criteria with our single board 38 watt 3,431 lumen solution, or you desire enhanced security and light levels with our four
board 137 watt 13,724 lumens, the G3 has you covered. Combine this modular performance with the latest in standalone
or wireless controls for added energy savings and even more design flexibility and security, the G3 provides the industry’s
most comprehensive parking garage solution package available today.
A modular approach
Lowest wattage two fixture per bay solution
G3’s lowest wattage solution is a single 16 LED array that consumes 38 watts per fixture or 76 watts combined in a typical
two fixture per bay solution. Meets all current IES RP20 design guidelines and minimums and is one of the lowest wattage
fixtures if not lowest that will meet proposed future changes to IES garage design criteria. Designed to replace a 150 watt
pulse start system one-for-one consuming 189 system watts per fixture, the G3 by itself saves 80% in energy usage.
Lowest cost one fixture per bay solution
For a lowest installed cost solution that still provides 72% in energy savings vs. traditional 150 watt pulse start systems, the
dual 16 LED array G3 consumes 106 watts per fixture and can meet both current and proposed future IES guidelines one
fixture per bay with our 1R optic vs. the typical two LED or HID luminaires. Reduce your fixture requirements, installation
costs and system maintenance by 50% for the lowest total cost of ownership.
Enhanced light levels for improved safety and security
Some applications require enhanced or higher lighting levels than what the IES RP20 recommends when improved safety
and security is a top priority. This typically means increased average footcandle levels and use of additional fixtures. G3’s
modular design uses one to four 16 LED arrays that delivers up to 13,724 lumens. You now have the flexibility of utilizing
higher lumen packages in single or two fixture per bay applications to provide enhanced light levels.
Standalone motion response controls provides additional energy savings
Integral standalone motion response controls has just about become an industry standard in parking garage applications
where additional energy savings is a top priority. G3 is no exception and can save you an additional 15% in energy usage
during unoccupied times. This is the simplest controls solution available today as no additional wiring or commissioning is
required at installation. Fixtures can be easily updated in the field using a wireless hand held programmer.
Wireless control solution enhances security, flexibility and user experience
G3’s wireless LimeLight control system provides the ultimate in fixture control and monitoring available today. Zones can be
configured so that when motion is detected, the patron experiences a seamless visual experience that standalone controls
cannot equal without complicated and expensive wiring. Accessible via the web based GUI, the G3 installed site can be
monitored and updated in real time, including status reports of every fixture for added security and improved maintenance.
Every year 6.5 billion kilowatt hours
are wasted on parking garage
lighting – that amounts to over
$2 million a day, $730 million a year.

Lowest wattage two fixture per bay solution
maximizes energy savings
At 38 watts per fixture, the G3’s single 16 LED array is one of the lowest wattage parking garage luminaires available today
that meets all current IES RP20 design guidelines and is quite possibly the lowest wattage system that can meet current future
proposed changes to IES design criteria. By simply converting to or choosing an all LED solution, the G3 was designed to replace
100-150 watt PSMH 2-per bay systems one-for-one or by using less fixtures. At minimum you can expect to save 80% in energy
consumption alone compared to the 189 system watts of a 150 watt PSMH luminaire.
Minimize total cost of ownership using a one
fixture per bay solution without sacrificing
energy savings and performance
You have a tight budget and are concerned with total cost of ownership, return on investment and you still want to maximize
energy savings as much as possible. The G3 has you covered by utilizing our 2-board 106 watt luminaire that delivers 8,810
lumens combined with our ‘1R’ rectangular optic. This configuration was designed specifically to meet IES minimum criteria with a
single fixture spaced down the center of a typical 60’ wide garage bay vs. the traditional two LED or traditional source luminaires.
Not only can you reduce your total fixture count by 50% or more, but you also reduce installation costs, maintenance costs and
optional controls costs by choosing a 1-per bay solution. And you receive all of these added benefits while still saving a significant
amount of consumed energy compared to traditional luminaires.
Have an application that needs higher than normal
light levels for improved safety and security and
you cannot add additional fixtures
Some applications require a 5 footcandle average or higher to provide enhanced safety and security within their structure, while others
just want more illumination. Hi traffic installations such as hospitals, casinos, shopping malls, etc. are just a few examples where IES minimum
criteria may not suffice. Most LED based solutions are limited in their lumen package offering, designing to the most efficient solution, which
means additional fixtures to achieve higher light levels. The G3 still offers those efficient solutions and thanks to our modular design we are
able to provide additional 2, 3 and 4 board configurations up to 13,724 lumens. Enhanced light levels in one or two fixture per bay designs
are easily achieved without having to decrease lateral spacing or adding fixtures to increase light levels while still maximizing savings.
Energy saving economics
G3 offers superior energy and operating cost saving solutions as a standalone fixture or with our
programmable MR motion response detectors or LimeLight wireless control options. Our MR system provides
efficient motion and ambient detection without the expense and complexity of more traditional wired control
systems making the G3 luminaire the simplest controlled solution for parking garage applications.
Energy savings with G3 (no controls)
Energy analysis
Our MR option is a standalone smart system ready from the
factory and is 100% integral to the luminaire, requiring no
additional wiring or commissioning during installation.
Sensors
G3’s MR sensors have the ability to detect and adjust to
motion and ambient light levels. MR sensors can be designed
with a maximum 25’ diameter reach at a 9’ mounting height.
Standard dim level low is set to 10%, at the factory.
Fully field programmable
Every application is unique, requiring specific control settings
that can be changed by the MR’s wireless IR handheld
programmer. The ‘FSIR-100’ handheld programmer provides
simple step-by-step navigation via wireless access directly to
the sensor to change multiple parameters quickly and easily
in the field. Custom factory programming also available if field
commissioning is not an option.
How MR motion response works
Simply use the factory MR sensor profile or specifically configure the system to the desired settings (field or factory). Luminaires will operate
at the programmed light levels during unoccupied periods. When motion is detected at vehicular or pedestrian entry points, the system
will immediately raise light levels to 100% or per programmed levels. Luminaires will then remain at high-output until the set time-out
period has elapsed that can range from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
Understanding wireless technology
LimeLight’s wireless technology is a web-based system that operates through high density mesh
(HDM) wireless technology. The diagram below demonstrates how all of the components of
our wireless system work together to create a true mesh network. The system starts with the
web based graphical user interface (GUI), which is accessed to view fixture status and to manage
the luminaires in the parking garage. All of the commands to the system go through the central
LimeLight database, which receives information from the LimeLight Gateway and checks the
status of every fixture.
Interface (GUI)
2. Central
Database
3. Customer
Firewall
Eliminate the
‘popcorn effect’ of single
luminaire dimming control
Although widely accepted, individual fixture control is true line-of-sight,
which means each luminaire is brought to high output only when motion
is detected. This creates a visual domino or ‘popcorn effect’ as a patron
or vehicle makes their way through the space.
Thanks to LimeLight’s ability to easily create fixture groups or lighting
zones, patrons will never see any change in illumination levels and will
always be in a fully illuminated space until exiting the parking structure.
Eliminating the undesirable domino or popcorn effect to create a
seamless, safe and inviting visual experience.
After the patron has safely exited the garage, the previously activated
zones gradually dim back to their low state as long as no additional
occupancy is detected. This time delay can be easily programmed to
specific settings to further ensure safety and security as well as maximize
energy saving potential.
Maximize savings
and decrease risk
with real-time data
feedback
Measuring activity can
improve energy efficiency
LimeLight tracks energy usage by groups, floors
or individual fixtures. The beauty of the system
allows owners to evaluate energy consumption
by generating daily, weekly and quarterly reports
using the on-line reporting tool. This feature allows
users to modify light level presets and scheduling
events straight from the web. Furthermore, when
conducting daylight harvesting and occupancy
activity analysis, wattage reduction calculation and
opportunities for further adjustments can be verified
with real-time data feedback.
Up to 50% installation and maintenance cost
savings compared to hard wired control systems
Enhance fixture and system reliability for your customers
and reduce maintenance costs
Because you can view your facility’s lighting status from any remote location, maintenance has never
been easier. The system will e-mail or text you directly in the event of a power outage, fixture failure
or drop in light levels. System outages and sudden drops in illumination can be tracked immediately to
individual fixtures. As a result, maintenance issues can be automatically diagnosed before a repair crew is
dispatched. No more guessing or costly spot checking to ensure peace of mind that your facility is 100%
operational and safe.
12 www.sitelighting.com
“The wireless controls system tracks
energy usage, dims fixtures when there
is no activity or in areas of strong natural
light, and provides the kind of real-time
data that garage owners need.”
- Municipal User
Installing a wireless system eliminates the need for dedicated control wiring, circuitry and design, reducing hard wire and labor
expenses during installation. With little to no installation disruptions during daily operation combined with the elimination and need
for maintenance spot checking, wireless controls are proven to be an ideal solution for retrofit and relight applications to significantly
reduce costly facility maintenance.

Leveraging the intelligence
of the system via the web
LimeLight’s graphical user interface (GUI) is truly the power of the system
enabling you to manage your entire parking garage facility lighting via
the web. Every fixture has its own MAC address so owners can check
the status of a single fixture and any fixture can be interdependent or
independent in terms of grouping. The GUI is a web based tool that can
be accessed straight from the internet, requiring no additional software
installation. Each user will receive a unique user name and password to
access the LimeLight user interface. There are five levels of access to
ensure that the owner, building operator, or security manager can access
only the information they need.
Manage and monitor fixture
groupings in real time
LimeLight’s grouping tool provides tremendous flexibility
with up to 50 fixture groups per gateway. Group the
entire floor or individual rows to provide full line-of-sight
views for your customer in the evening hours, or group
the entrance areas to keep fixtures at maximum light
output regardless of the time of day.
The flexibility and control is yours. After initial
configuration, you have the ability to change and update
individual fixtures and groups as required. Thanks to
the wireless communication, changes are done in real
time and from the ease of your computer. No need to
manually reprogram each individual luminaire in the field
like other traditional standalone or wired installations.
Event programming is as
easy as 1, 2, 3
LimeLight’s wireless access allows users to set up multiple
program events to accommodate activities such as
maintenance, manual, reactive and high occupancy level
schedules. If you need to override your active schedule
for holidays, sporting events, or other special occasions,
simply log on to the portal and create a specific event
program. Again, this is all done in real time without having
to manually reprogram in the field. The regular scheduled
event will resume automatically the next day.
LimeLight’s GUI allows you to control light levels and operate in large or small zones, or
LimeLight Wireless Controls System
LimeLight is an intelligent web-based system that operates
through a high density mesh (HDM) wireless technology.
Radio modules with motion and photocell sensors are
integrated into each G3 LED luminaire that enables
the fixtures to communicate with the ZigBee protocol.
The Gateway is a mini computer that connects to the
internet, and is located in the parking structure (120V
required). The central LimeLight database channels
communication to and from the gateway, allowing data to
be viewed or accessed through the web-based graphical
user interface (GUI).
Motion Response Sensors
G3-MR, G3-MRCP and G3-RC luminaires may be specified
for additional energy savings during unoccupied periods
by dimming to low until motion is detected via a passive
infrared (PIR) motion sensor. Standard dim level factory
set to 10% and can be factory or field programed.
