EXHIBIT CLOSES DECEMBER 31, 2013<br />

Narrated by Dwight Yoakam, this exhibit explores the roots <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Bakersfield Sound. Central to the exhibit are the lives <strong>of</strong> <strong>Country</strong><br />

<strong>Music</strong> <strong>Hall</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fame</strong> members Buck Owens <strong>and</strong> Merle Haggard.<br />

The electrified, loud, <strong>and</strong> stripped-down sound <strong>of</strong> the Bakersfield<br />

scene has influenced artists <strong>of</strong> all types, giving rise to both the<br />

California country <strong>and</strong> country rock l<strong>and</strong>scapes that have evolved.<br />

Carrie Underwood is the first country<br />

artist in history to achieve 10 #1 singles<br />

This exhibit will feature costumes,<br />

instruments, microphones <strong>and</strong> more<br />

from the six-time Grammy winner’s<br />

2012-13 Blown Away Tour.<br />

With her rich, emotive vocals<br />

<strong>and</strong> a body <strong>of</strong> recordings that<br />

still resonates fifty years after her<br />

untimely death, Patsy Cline made<br />

an indelible mark on country <strong>and</strong><br />

pop music. This exhibit examines<br />

the life <strong>and</strong> tragically brief career<br />

<strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> country music’s most<br />

iconic figures through the eyes<br />

<strong>of</strong> her family, friends, <strong>and</strong> peers.<br />

FOLK ROOTS TO THE 1960s<br />

This exciting, multi-layered experience tells the story <strong>of</strong><br />

country music, beginning with its humble folk roots, <strong>and</strong><br />

tracks its evolution into the 1960s. Through hundreds <strong>of</strong><br />

artifacts, photographs, original recordings, <strong>and</strong> archival<br />

films, Sing Me Back Home immerses the visitor in the history<br />

<strong>and</strong> sounds <strong>of</strong> country music’s early years.<br />

DREAMING MY DREAMS: THE JOURNEY CONTINUES<br />

1960s TO THE PRESENT<br />

In 2010, the <strong>Museum</strong> opened an all-new exhibit experience,<br />

adding hundreds <strong>of</strong> artifacts <strong>and</strong> multimedia elements that<br />

focus on country music’s recent history. Artists represented<br />

include Johnny Cash, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Carrie<br />

Underwood, <strong>and</strong> many others.<br />

THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME<br />

Election to the <strong>Hall</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fame</strong> is the most esteemed honor in<br />

country music. The <strong>Hall</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fame</strong> Rotunda is a special room<br />

where the members’ plaques are positioned r<strong>and</strong>omly to ensure<br />

that everyone has a place <strong>of</strong> equal importance. Visitors agree that<br />

this space inspires reverence for the deepest roots <strong>of</strong> the music.<br />

Historic RCA Studio B was placed on the National Register <strong>of</strong> Historic Places in July 2012.<br />

The magic <strong>of</strong> Studio B lent itself to the recording <strong>of</strong> more than 35,000 songs.<br />

Nearly 1,000 became some <strong>of</strong> the biggest hits in music history. From Elvis Presley<br />

to Dolly Parton, Studio B was a favorite <strong>of</strong> the stars. Come relive your memories<br />
