Critical Illness
Insurance
from Standard Life

Hello.
Nobody likes to think
about it, but illness doesn’t
discriminate and it can strike
at any time.
What better way to a
complete recovery than to
be surrounded by loved ones
and to only be concerned with
looking after your health.
But if you’re suffering from
cancer or heart disease and
can no longer work, bills pile
up, and it’s not always easy
to find peace of mind.
How can we help you?
With Protecta critical illness insurance, if you
are diagnosed with one of the critical illnesses
covered by your policy and survive a period of
usually 30 days, you will receive a lump sum
payment. This benefi t could help pay for the
following:
Prescription drugs or treatments not covered
by government plans
Homecare, childcare and housekeeping
Home modifi cations or setting up an adapted
space
Mortgage and other debts payments
Income replacement
Any other expense of your choice
Risks that could become a reality
Every year, between 40,000 and 50,000
cases of stroke are reported in Canada
81% of Canadians hospitalized due to a
stroke survive more than 30 days
Approximately 149,000 Canadians
were diagnosed with cancer in 2005
40% of heart attack victims are under
age 65
The majority of cancer patients are
likely to survive more than 5 years
from diagnosis
