VOLVO NAVIGATION SYSTEM (VNS)* 

What is the fastest route from Boston to the 

Bronx? The Volvo Navigation System can guide 

you anywhere with precise audio and visual directions. 

Using the global positioning satellite system, 

a liquid crystal 6.5-inch color display shows your 

location on a map and plots the best route to your 

destination. Controls are conveniently located on 

the steering wheel. When not in use, the screen 

retracts into the dashboard. 

PARK ASSIST FRONT 

This system warns of objects in front of the vehicle with a buzz tone that 

pulses, then increases to a constant tone when object is within 9 inches. 

The visible part of the bumper sensors should be painted with a 

maximum of two coats of paint. (Requires Park Assist rear.) 

ASHTRAY 

Volvo offers a wide variety of ashtrays for convenience 

and comfort. Please see your Volvo Retailer 

for ashtrays applicable to your vehicle. 

HOMELINK 

This convenient system makes it possible to operate 

up to three remote controlled house devices (garage 

door, house alarm, etc.) via an integrated module in 

the sun visor. Compatible with almost every home 

access control product in the market today. HomeLink 

is easy to install and can be programmed in seconds.

SUN GLASS HOLDER 

Practical sun glass holder is designed to accept most frame size. 

Replaces the fitted entry grab-handles and integrates perfectly into the 

interior.

NET POCKET (UNDER GLOVE BOX) 

Storage pocket that installs on the passenger side 

under the glove box. The net is color coordinated. 

WASTE PAPER BASKET, STORAGE COMPARTMENT, 

REAR CENTER CONSOLE 

A multifunctional plastic container that can either 

be used as a storage tray or a waste basket. The 

plastic basket easily installs into the rear edge the 

center console replacing the cup holder. 

PARK ASSIST REAR 

This system warns of objects behind the vehicle

Increase your field of vision behind the car when 

parking. A camera mounted in the trunk lid allows you 

to see what’s behind the car through the navigation 

system. Screen mounted in dash.

A completely new product which makes it easy 

to listen to your entire CD collection in your 

car. Simply download tracks in MP3 format onto 

a cartridge and transfer them to your vehicle. 

Stores up to 400 CD’s or 500 hours of music. 

SUBWOOFER 

For those who truly enjoy premium sound then 

the Volvo subwoofer is for you. The subwoofer 

unit is a closed 10 liter loudspeaker box and a 

12 inch loudspeaker element designed to produce 

optimum acoustics. The subwoofer installs under 

the floor in the luggage compartment area and 

cannot be seen in the vehicle after installation. 

Output 1 x 150 W. Cannot be installed in conjunction 

with the children’s auxiliary seat. 

VOLVO SATELLITE RADIO 

Satellite radio is now available for your Volvo. 

Volvo has joined forces with Sirius to offer 

an integrated satellite solution that is sure to 

provide endless listening enjoyment. 



10 DISC CD CHANGER 

VOLVO IPOD 

Operated by a CD controller in the radio, this 

changer allows you to play up to ten different discs. 

The changer is mounted discretely out of sight. 

A six disc changer is available for C70. 

® ADAPTER 

This feature lets you take all of your favorite artists 

along for the ride. Simply plug your iPod ® into a 

cable in the front center armrest and the choice of 

music is yours. Tracks can be selected by using 

the controls on the car’s audio system, or by using 

the optional steering wheel keypad. Your iPod ® is 

also recharged for as long as it’s plugged in.

HU 850 RADIO 

The Volvo HU 850 radio features an in-dash 6-CD changer system. 

Speaker and amplifier upgrades are required. Volvo offers a wide range 

of in dash CD changer upgrade options. 

VOLVO iPOD FM TRANSMITTER 

The Volvo iPod FM Transmitter is the perfect 

solution for S40, V50 and C70 models. Simply 

insert you iPod into the dash mounted holder and 

the Volvo iPod FM transmitter plays iPod audio 

over the cars FM radio. The cradle charges your 

iPod as well. 

RSE (REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM) 

A compact DVD player for rear-seat passengers. 

The high resolution 7" TFT screen is fitted in the 

roof. All the functions can be operated via the 

vireless remote control. The motorised screen can 

be tucked out of the way, flush with the roof, when 

not in use. Features an extra socket for a game 

console or video camera. Can play DVD, VCD, CD. 

6 DISC IN DASH CD PLAYER 

The in-dash CD changer holds up to 6 CDs. It quickly changes CDs 

at the touch of a button. And if you’re in the mood for variation, you 

can use the Random one function to shuffle the playing order on the 

currently selected CD. Random all shuffles the order on all of the 

CDs in the changer. 



VOLVO HANDS-FREE WITH BLUETOOTH 

The Bluetooth Hands-free phone system makes it 

easy to drive and have a telephone conversation 

at the same time. This advanced technology will 

allow your car to recognize your phone as soon as 

the vehicle is started. The phone can even remain 

in your pocket while you make or receive phone 

calls by voice activation.

CHILDREN’S AUXILIARY SEAT* 

Sturdy auxiliary rear seat safely holds two children 

up to 55 inches tall and weighing 50-88 lbs. 

(22-40 kg) each. Equipped with three point seat 

belts that adjust automatically to each child. 

Includes an integrated head restraint that can be 

raised and lowered for comfort. Seats are color 

coordinated and easy to clean. Cannot be combined 

with subwoofer or steel cargo organizer. 

PADDED UPHOLSTERY/HEADREST 

This upholstery, with built-in side supports, helps 

to hold children securely in place when used with 

the integrated rear booster seats. Easily installed/ 

removed and is washable. The upholstery can be 

complimented with a padded headrest as well. 

CARGO AREA WINDOW SIDE BLINDS 

These sunblinds cover the side windows in the 

luggage compartment area. These blindes are 

especially useful to protect a child traveling in 

the children’s auxiliary seat from heat and irritating 

sunlight. 

BOOSTER CUSHION/BACKREST* 

Allows a child (33-80 lbs./15-36 kg) (46-54 in./ 

115-163 cm height) to ride at the proper height for 

the 3-point seatbelt to work effectively. The adjustable 

backrest gives extra support for the back and 

neck. It can also be tilted for sleeping.

CHILD ACTIVITY BAG 

This multifunctional bag is perfect for storing a child’s

Volvo’s load carrying system is a multipurpose roof rack system that provides you with a variety of functional, interchangeable accessories to meet all of your load 

carrying needs. Volvo’s load systems offer both a roof rail/cross bar setup as well as a load bar system to meet all the requirements of your particular vehicle. 

LOAD BARS 

Load bars provide a great rooftop carrying system by installing quickly 

and easily directly to the roof of your vehicle.

ROOF RAILS/SQUARE PROFILE CROSS BARS 

Classic, plastic-coated steel square profile cross bars for quick and 

easy attachment of Volvo’s rooftop carrying system. 

ROOF RAILS/T-TRACK CROSS BARS/ROOF RIBS 

These silver cross bars look great on the car without any load. These 

bars follow the shape of the roof and the aerodynamically shaped wing 

profile reduces wind noise. The upright bike carrier and the sliding ski 

carrier are just two of the great accessories that work with these bars. 

Shown are Volvo’s roof protection ribs. Installed lengthwise on the roof, 

these protector ribs shield against scratches. Roof ribs help protect 

against scratches on the roof as well as add to the appearance of 

the vehicle. The ribs consist of rubber and easily mount to the roof of 

the vehicle. There are a total of 7 longitudinal ribs along the roof. 

The maximum load capacity for these ribs totals 80 lbs. 

The roof ribs aren’t available for V50.

EURO-WEEKENDER ROOF BOX 

This rooftop cargo box mounts to load bars or cross bars and features 

a dual opening system that allows access from either side. Measures 

69 x 14.3 x 32 inches (175 x 36 x 81 cm). Made of durable ABS plastic, 

this stylish box comes with locks. Available in black. 

LOAD BARS/SNOWBOARD CARRIER/ANGLED SKI HOLDER 

Load bars provide a great rooftop carrying system by installing quickly 

and easily directly to the roof of your vehicle. Accessories such as the 

snowboard carrier and angled ski holder are perfect accessories to 

use with the load bars. Flat-style ski holders (not shown) are available 

in 3/4/6 pair capacity. 

CARGO BOX “MOUNTAINEER II” 

This extra long cargo carrier is ideal for the large family and busy 

weekends. The box holds up to eight pairs of skis, boots and poles. 

It is also great for transporting luggage, camping and sports gear. 

Opens from both sides and includes quick-snap hardware for easy 

installation and removal. Measures 91" L x 30" W x 16" H, 40 lbs.

FORK MOUNTED BIKE RACK 

The fork mounted bike rack provides stable transportation for most 

types of bicycles, even thick framed mountain bikes. This aluminum 

rack is easy to install on load bars, and includes a security lock. Also 

available is a wheel holder for the bicycle’s front wheel. An upright 

bike carrier is also available.

BIKE LIFT CARRIER 

Volvo’s bicycle lift carrier contains a gas strut that allows effortless 

lifting and lowering of most types of bikes. No need to remove the 

wheels when loading or unloading. Load bars (not included) can 

accommodate two lift carriers. 

SLIDING SKI RACK 

This sliding ski rack holds either 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards. 

The ski holder slides out from the vehicle to allow for easy loading 

and unloading.

CANOE/KAYAK CARRIER 

The perfect carrier for transporting a canoe or kayak on the roof of your 

vehicle. The angle of the holders can be easily adjusted which means 

they can be adapted to suit a number of different types of hulls. 

SAILBOARD CARRIER 

Protects the surface of the board and provides fast, simple mounting 

and dismounting. Mounts easily on load bars and includes mast holder 

and lashing straps. Sailboard carrier cannot be fitted to load carrier 

with T-Track. 



UPRIGHT BIKE CARRIER 

This frame mounted rack easily mounts to load bars. Includes corrosion 

resistant mounting tray and security lock. 

ROOFTOP LUGGAGE CARRIER/LOAD STRAPS 

This roof mounted luggage carrier is constructed of aluminum and 

plastic covered steel tubes. Simply add load straps and you can 

transport items conveniently on the roof of your vehicle.

ADVANCED TRAILER HITCH BASE UNIT 

This base unit provides the interface between the 

trailer hitch and our hitch mounted accessories. 

It provides a hydraulic shock absorber that allows 

one person to raise and lower the attached 

accessory. 

ADVANCED TRAILER HITCH SKI HOLDER 

This black painted steel ski holder can hold up to 6 pairs of 

skis or 4 snowboards. A lock is included to lock your skis or 

snowboards to the holder. 

TRAILER HITCH STEP 

The trailer hitch step is designed to easily fit the 

Square profile hitch and simply slides into the ball 

mount. For easier access to roof mounted carriers, 

such as bike racks and cargo boxes. 

ADVANCED TRAILER HITCH BIKE CARRIER 

ADVANCED TRAILER HITCH LOAD BASKET 

An aluminum load basket that allows you to carry 

luggage etc. outside of the car. We recommend that 

you use Volvo load straps to secure the load. 



This bike holder carries up to four bicycles and folds down to allow 

access to the cargo area.

SQUARE PROFILE TRAILER HITCH 

These hitches are frame mounted and made of black tubular steel. 

These hitches are not only great for towing but also can be used to 

transport bikes, skis and other loads. See owners manual for towing 

capacity. (Not available from Volvo.) 

TRAILER MIRROR 

Towing a trailer or a boat can significantly reduce a driver’s ability to 

see objects that are behind the vehicle. This steel mirror quickly mounts 

on the wheel housing and upper edge of the front fender to improve 

visibility. 

TRAILER HITCH BIKE HOLDER, BASIC MODEL 

Volvo also offers a basic one piece trailer hitch mounted bike carrier. 

Made from black powder coated structural steel, with non-marring rubber 

cradles and polypropylene straps, for extra stability. Optional locking 

straps are also available. Bike rack will hold 4 bicycles. 



RUBBER FLOOR MATS 

Color coordinated floor protection mats help keep your Volvo’s interior 

looking like new. These mats are made of strong, natural rubber for 

easy cleaning and have protective raised edges. Cannot be used with 

plush carpeted mats. Available for 3 rd row seats in XC90.

CARGO COMPARTMENT COVER 

A stylish, retractable compartment cover which 

conceals luggage in the cargo compartment 

DIRT COVER 

A protector for the load area, which covers the 

floor and the sidewalls of the load area plus the 

back of the rear seats. Made from durable grime 

resistant vinyl. Very easy to install and remove. 

The backrest portion of the protector is divided so 

the rear seats can be folded down independently. 

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT PLASTIC 

A protective plastic mat molded to suit the cargo 

space floor. Two versions are available for the XC90. 

A one piece mat for the 5 seater and a two piece mat 

for the 7 seater. 



PROTECTIVE TAPE, REAR BUMPER 

A transparent, clear protective tape that can be 

easily applied on the top of the rear bumper and 

effectively protects its surfaces. 

SKI BAG, INTERIOR 

This accessory is a must for those interested in 

hitting the slopes. Makes it simple to load skis into 

the car. A waterproof ski compartment behind the 

armrest in the rear seat has room for two pairs of 

skis or two snowboards. 

REAR SEAT GUARD 

A rear seat guard that is practical if you need to 

transport items such as a golf bag, luggage etc. 

in the rear seat. Also good if you need to pick up 

your kids from outdoor practices or transport a pet 

and want to keep the interior from getting dirty.

SPARE WHEEL STORAGE ORGANIZER 

A clever storage compartment for small items. 

The compartmentalized organizer is located in 

the spare wheel well. Can be completed with the 

Reversible cargo compartment mat. 

REAR BUMPER COVER 

A practical cover for the rear bumper which protects 

clothing from getting dirty as well as protecting the 

bumper when loading and unloading cargo in the 

cargo area. 

CARGO COMPARTMENT MAT—REVERSIBLE 

Protective mat made of textile and rubber, extremely 

high quality. The mat has an attractive design with an 

embossed edge all around. It is reversible with textile 

on one side and rubber on the other for transporting 

dirty loads. Somewhat looser fit for the V50 version 

with the high load compartment floor. Requires storage 

organizer on C70. 



CARGO COMPARTMENT BOX 

A practical molded cargo box made of plastic 

which is suitable for transporting heavy or dirty 

loads. 

STORAGE BOX 

Practical plastic box for convenient storage of 

small containers such as oil or washer fluid in 

the trunk. 

THERMAL STORAGE BOX 

Keep contents warm or cool on your ride to the 

slopes or the beach with the 4.5 gal./18 liter capacity 

thermal storage box. Conveniently powered 

through the optional auxiliary power outlet, it cools 

to 41ºF/ 5ºC and heats to 140ºF/60ºC. Secured 

with a restraining strap, it mounts in the trunk or 

cargo area.
