Costa Rica Fruta de Oro Tarrazu is a coffee grown high in the lush
mountain forests, and rich volcanic soils of Costa Rica. It is
produced on farms that are between 1-5 hectares. The high altitudes
produce a grade of SHB (Strictly Hard Bean Coffee) that has
matured more slowly and is much more dense than coffees grown at
lower altitudes. Since 1850, Costa Rica has been a country of coffee
producers and exporters. Because majority of the farms are small,
there are around 65,000 coffee farmers.
