Figure 3: The microstructures of the shear plane were measured from HPT-samples which were

deformed at a strain rate of 0.2s -1 correlated to a radius of 6mm. The deformation temperature was -

196°C (a), room temperature (b), 200°C (c), 250°C (d), 300°C (e), 350°C (f), 400°C (g) and 450°C

(h).

The BSE images of Fig. 3 show a change in microstructure between 200°C and 300°C.

Additional analyses can be performed by recording EBSD-maps. Some results of such EBSD scans

are shown in the form of pole figures in Fig. 4. The pole figures, which were recorded on a cut

plane, depict the microtextures of the shear plane. The first microtexture in Fig. 4a refers to a

sample that was deformed at 200°C. The pole figure shows a typical shear texture [6] which is
