and Japan. Their Noise & Vibration Technical Department is a well-known

reference in automotive, aeronautics, marine, energy, civil, and railway fields with

clients such as CAF, TALGO, EADS, AIRBUS, BOEING, SEAT, GAMESA etc.

SENER is the main partner and the leader member of the CATdBTren, an

ambitious research project with a budget over 2.000.000 EUR, partially funded by

the EU, aimed at achieving better anti-vibration designs in new railway

infrastructures through the use of a new comprehensive predictive software.

CATdBTren project: A complete model for the assessment

of vibration impact from new railway infrastructures

The CATdBTren project focus its research activities on the

generation and propagation phenomenon of vibrations in

railway infrastructures. The main objectives are:

Development of a comprehensive simulation

interface in order to assess, while in early stage of

the project, the impact of vibrations generated by

new railway structures.

Development of new superstructure designs with

lower vibration transmission properties

CATdBTren: From the railway to the

residents

The CATdBTren project focus on achieving vibration level

estimation by subdividing the vibration propagation path

in 4 blocks with dedicated propagation model:

Superstructure model

Ground propagation model

Ground/Building coupling model

Building propagation model

Each model is developed using the most appropriate tool

based on experimental, analytical, numerical and empirical

methods. The subdivision of the propagation path hence

offers a flexible, adapted and accurate prediction tool.
