School Break Kid-tivities

Each year, our kids get a well-deserved

school break during the

holidays and then again in February.

During this time of year, most

young ones feel it a great time to plop

themselves in front of the TV for hours

of shows or video games. As you know,

an entire week of this is not the best for

our kids and keeping them active can

be a challenge. But no worries, Putnam

County has a bunch of places for the


Jumpin’ Jeepers in Mahopac offers

fun-filled activities for kids every

day. Their open play allows children to

have fun while being educated. Since

last May, they have been under new

ownership and can now offer special

workshops and classes, including social

skills, music, handwriting and computer

robotics. Jumpin’ Jeepers also has a

healthy, all natural snack bar and uses

only eco-friendly cleaning products.

Some of the special workshops held

over winter break are: “Mad Science

Workshop: The Science of Magic” for

Kdg through 2nd graders on Dec. 28th

at 2 pm; Computer and Robotics classes

on Dec. 29.

Plus, you can now take advantage of

Jumpin’ Jeepers holiday package: which

includes unlimited visits from Dec. 24

through Jan. 2, admission to Tuesday

Mad Science Workshop (space is limited,

reserve today), free Crafts on Dec. 30 and

half of total price can be applied towards

an annual membership, if one is purchased

by Jan. 7 (holiday package is $80

per child, $75 for each additional sibling).

All-Out Fitness in Mahopac is offering

a Kid Fit class during the winter

break in February, for children from 1st

grade through age 14. A free demo class is

schedule for Dec. 28 from 11 am - 12 pm.

Brewster Sports

Center offers mul-

ti-sport camps for the winter break,

in addition to their standing winter

leagues. Their cardio fitness center allows

you to get your fitness routine

completed all under one roof. Many

open skating sessions for skaters of all

ages and abilities during both the holiday

and winter break.

Camp Combe vacation camp is a fun,

safe way for children to spend school

holidays. Activities include: seasonal

outdoor activities (sledding, hiking),

arts & crafts, indoor games, songs &

cheers, and special guests/activities.

Vacation camp days run from 8:00 am

to 6:00 pm and are offered during most

school holidays.
