FEATURES
d
c >
Attention paid to every detail...
a > Fast setup and ease of use:
- Slide poles into colour coded and angled
sleeves.
- Secure the pole ends in the adjustable
tension pockets.
- Set tent pegs and guylines depending
on the weather conditions.
Continuous pole sleeves allow poles to
glide effortlessly through intersections.
Canopies come factory mounted.
>
f
b > Adjustable floor loops of Dyneema
cord for easy placement of tent
pegs. They put a 8“ / 20 cm radius at
your disposal in which to find the ideal
spot to sink the peg.
c > Open anchor loops, inverted for
easy guyline attachment.
d > Strong and weatherproof: bombproof
shelters created by combining
wind shedding designs with strategi-
< a
< b
cally placed dual guy points on each
sleeve. Guylines anchor directly to pole
structures for superior stability in any
weather. Guylines are of ultralight and
static Dyneema with a tear force of 300
lbs/140 kg. This prevents the guylines
from stretching or dislodging pegs in
high winds, which otherwise leads to
flapping of the fly and structure and ultimately
fracture of the poles.
e > Enhanced aerodynamics with Flat
or Interior Pole Sleeve designs.
f > Excellent ventilation: even in rainy
conditions, condensation is kept to a
minimum by large opposed vents. This
design promotes a chimney effect to
maintain air circulation.
> No-See-Um panels on the
canopy‘s doors adjust from inside the
tent to control ventilation. Careful attention
to design ensures there is no contact
between fly and canopy.
g > Loads of space: unique Exped designs
maximize usable interior space
with steep side walls and large, protected
vestibules. Vestibules provide ample
space for storage and cooking (If cooking
inside the vestibule, always prime
and light stoves at a safe distance from
the tent). Models with dual vestibules
and entrances offer easy access. Doors
are large enough for two people to sit
next to one another.
> Fully waterproof shelters with factory
taped seams, polyester core/cotton
wrap thread, and taped or seamless
bathtub floors.
> Canopies can be unhooked to
increase vestibule space. Loops and
pockets keep the tent tidy.
> Natural, pleasing colors: warm
yellow interiors are pleasant and relaxing,
even when stormy weather
keeps you inside the tent.
Earthy, green color rainflies blend with
nature; or bright terracotta color rainflies
are easily spotted in bad weather
or from a distance.
> Integrity: Keep it simple and
reduce weight - care is taken to use
simple, proven designs and hardware.
Examples include toggle and loop
connectors for fly and canopy, adjustable
pole tension pockets made of
webbing and pole repair sections. Of
course, field repairability goes without
saying!
> Multi-functional and versatile:
The rainfly can be used alone for storage
space or as basic shelter, best in
combination with a tent footprint. The
canopy can be setup on its own as bug
shelter in clear weather. Unhook part of
the canopy to increase the space under
the fly. Numerous zipper sliders allow
doors to be opened in different positions.
designs enable Exped tents to be easily
moved to a new location or to be
cleaned by shaking overhead. Developed
by Exped, the “ridge tunnel tent“
is a new type of structure that combines
a Tunnel design‘s maximum usable
space with the Dome‘s freestanding
capability.
> Easy maintenance:
Tent poles‘ end caps remove easily
to adjust the shock cord in changing
weather conditions or to replace a broken
pole section.
Pole tension pockets are made with
strong, but simple materials (webbing
and a small pole segment). In the event
of a failure, such materials can be repaired
anywhere in the world unlike proprietary
plastic parts that can break at
the worst times and are hard to replace.
All Exped tents include spare parts:
zipper sliders, adhesive patch fabric,
and emergency pole repair segments.
> Easy packing:
The pole segments are short enough to
allow the packed tent to fit square into
most large backpacks and uniform
length pole segments (except the end
sections) mean that taking along just
one segment can address most any repair
situation; side entry packsacks surround
the rolled tent without effort or
strain.
> Accessory bag: Poles, tent pegs
and spares pack into three separate
compartments of the accessory bag.
This ensures that pole and spares stay
clean and away from the muddy pegs.
The accessory bag can be used as
compression roller when folding the
bundle into the packsack.
> Freestanding and spacious:
Most models are either freestanding or
require just a few stakes to ensure that
the tent is not carried off by wind. Such
Quality materials:
In the non-Extreme series tents the
rainfly fabric is strong, lightweight ripstop
polyester: UV-resistant and meets
CPAI-84 flame retardant guidelines. Extra
strong PU coatings on the fabric‘s
underside offer long wearing waterproofness.
In the Extreme series the fly fabric is
a durable, lightweight, silicone coated
ripstop nylon with improved UV- and
tear-resistance. However, silicone coated
fabrics do not meet CPAI-84 fire retardant
guidelines. (See tent models for
specifics).
Single wall tents are made of fully waterproof,
but highly vapor permeable
VentAir fabric.
All Floors are made of durable taffeta
nylon with heavy PU coatings; have a
waterproof rating of 14+ PSI (10,000+
mm water column) and are either factory
seam taped or seamless to maxmize
strength.
Mosquito netting is of ultra fine, very
UV-resistant No-See-Um polyester that
keeps out the tiniest of bugs.
Rainflies with external pole sleeves are
easier to setup because poles encounter
less resistance. Internal pole sleeves
increase stability and offer less wind
resitance.
The perfect solution is found in the
Flat Pole Sleeves developed by Exped
that combine the advantages of both
sleeve designs.
Poles of state-of-the-art TH72M extruded,
seamless aircraft aluminum by
DAC. These are rigid but pliable enough
to yield in strong winds. DAC poles
snap back to position without breaking
and then damaging the fly. DAC poles
are less likely to burr if they snap together
during setup which can cause
the segments to fit improperly and lead
to breakage.
Reliable YKK zippers in the fly and
canopy are sewn smooth side out to
reduce exposure to dirt, which could
cause premature wear.
The zipper pulls are reflective, colour
coded and glow in the dark. They
are long enough for easy handling even
when wearing gloves.
Lighweight and sturdy aircraft aluminium
stakes are provided in two grades
for both hard packed and soft ground
condition.
Ample guylines include adjustable tensioners,
especially developed by Exped,
that secure around most fixed objects
without complicated knots. Key lines
are factory pre mounted and provided
with Exped‘s own Cord Stuffsacks (also
available separately).
Guylines, developed by Exped, are of
ultralight and static Dyneema with a
tear force of 300 lbs/140 kg. This prevents
the guylines from stretching or
dislodging pegs in high winds, which
otherwise leads to flapping of the fly
and structure and ultimately fracture of
the poles. The guylines have a Dyneema
core and polyester sheath. Dyneema
is 15x stronger than steel and 40%
stronger than Kevlar of the comparable
weight. A reflective thread has been
spun into the sheath for visibility in the
dark. Sheaths and cores can be separated
to increase usable length.
Quality workmanship:
Lap-felled seams (4 inter-wrapped
fabric layers) are single or double factory
taped. Stress points are reinforced
with extra-duty patches and are sewn
with crossover stitching to better distribute
forces over larger areas of fabric.
All stress points are bartacked.
Thread used throughout is ‘polyester
core, cotton wrap’ that expands when
wet to seal stitch holes.
> Warranty and service: Exped tents
carry a 5 year, limited warranty on defects
in workmanship and materials. At
its discretion, Exped will repair or replace
any part that fails due to manufacturing
defect. Failures due to normal
wear, negligence, accidents and
acts of nature can usually be repaired
for a nominal charge. Please see your
outdoor retailer for details or contact
Exped.
> And why not even lighter? Light
can mean less durable. The increasing
UV radiation requires a minimum in
fabric weight and strength to prevent
premature degradation of the product
when exposed to the sun.

a > Large vestibule, easily accessed from inside Vela I, is large enough
for all your gear. The door is easily raised to offer a view
but still protects from the elements.
b > Large floor plan is especially long and wide, making it possible to
bring gear inside or to help out a stranded, second person.
c > Ventilation is maximized in this storm proof design. The rainfly
can be rolled up from either end, and both ends of the canopy
have mesh windows. A hood protected vent enhances the chimney
effect for venting. The foot end is aerodynamically shaped
and can be completely tied down to face high winds. The head
end features a mesh window.
d > Ingenious flat pole sleeve improves aerodynamics in wind and
rain. Double seams and stitching offer extreme strength.
e > Setup requires just 2 stakes. Additional tie down loops make
Vela I absolutely storm proof!
Loads of space at a very low weight.
d
> Loads of interior
space and easy access:
Despite its low
weight the Vega offers
the luxury of ample interior
space and easy
entry through two high
doors. The lost space in
the corners common to
A-Frame tents has been
eliminated by four integrated
and foldable corner
supports.
< a
> Superb venting: Vents
above the doors can be
left open during rain promoting
the chimney effect.
Both vestibules
can be completely rolled
open. The VentAir fabric
also plays a vital role
in the ventilation of the
tent.
b
>
a > Built-in corner poles make pitching the tent quick and easy. Peg
down the corners, set the ridge support poles, pitch the vestibules
and your done. Instead of the ridge support poles, trekking
poles, paddles, sticks etc. can be used to prop up the tent.
b > Adjustable guylines made of super strong, lightweight and reflective
Dyneema cord are pre-mounted in a storm proof V-configuration.
c > Large vestibules on either side hold all your gear and can be
easily accessed from within Vega.
d > The high vestibule doors allow easy entry without the need to
crawl. The two doors are easily opened with just one hand. One
entrance is large enough for two people to sit next to one another,
while the second is smaller to reduce weight.
e > Vega’s wedge shape; sloping tent walls for minimal wind resistance,
and ample guyline loops (with super strong Dyneema
cords) make this tent extremely storm proof.
Arc Tarp is a protective cover in rain or provides shade under the sun. Extends a tent
vestibule or stands alone when used with both arches.
> Lots of space at a
low weight: With little
> Fast setup: Insert one
or both poles, secure the
cord web to the tent with
Numerous applications:
adjusting the radius of the arches.
can be set up alone to create a
large sheltered area.
> As a standing height rainfly over a
rear of the tarp with numerous mini-carabiners
attaches easily and tightly to any ‚mother tent‘.
b > Reinforced guyline loops are set directly onto the
pole sleeves for extra stability. Inner and outer
guyline loops make Arc Tarp extremely versatile.
c > Cord Stuffsacks eliminate the chaos of tangled
lines. Guylines of ultralight and static Dyneema
with a tear force of 300 lbs / 140 kg.
Fits the following tent groups:
> The battle with tangled guylines is finally over. An
ingenious stuff sack made for tent guylines enables
quick packing and leaves them ready for use the next
time without hassle! Insert your fingers in the sack,
wrap the line around and turn inside out. An extra flap
keeps everything from unraveling. Leave it to Swiss
for ingenuity and efficiency!
> Guylines developed by Exped are both ultralight
and static, with a tear force of 300 lbs/140 kg. This
prevents the cord from stretching and tearing in high
winds, which otherwise leads to flapping of the fly
and structure and ultimately to fracture of the poles.
Combine footprint and rainfly to travel extra light!
> A footprint doubles as a tarp against rain, wind and
sun (against excessive exposure to UV radiation).
