THE BOTTOM LINE
At the membership meeting held Thursday
July 9 th , Henry Wimmer brought up the fact
that the lodge doesn’t seem to be any
better off today than when we had to sell
our lodge home on Redwood. The reason
for this is lack of membership participation
and volunteering. Henry thought that if
you members were informed about what it
costs to run the lodge and what some of
the bills were you would have a better
insight as to what is going on in your
lodge.
I have put together a small report and a
conservative figure as to cost. It costs
$166.00 a day just to open the doors for
business.
Several of our members think that we don’t
have to pay taxes, but that is wrong. The
only thing that we don’t pay in taxes is the
Federal and State Income taxes. The only
paid employee we have is one bartender.
If we were paying for Sunday bartenders,
clerical help and the Administrator, we
would not make it.
What we need from you as a member is to
start coming, helping and supporting lodge
functions. Why not come to the
membership meeting and state your
concerns and ideas.

HONORED
According to W.O.T.M. records it has
been 13 years since anyone from
Aurora has received the College of
Regents degree. I never thought it
would be me! For this I would have to
thank my parents, Ed and Barbara
Harper, for enrolling me and giving me
this opportunity. I could never have
done this without them.
On May 23 rd at Mooseheart when I
walked up the aisle with several others,
I had goose bumps, and when I placed
my hand on the Bible and made my
pledge, I cried. I never felt so honored.
I’d like to also thank all my co-workers

membership participation.

ladies, and I could never have done this

JUNE RAFFLE WINNER
Congratulations to Diane Beane. She won the
Membership Retention Committee’s red lawn
chair filled with all kinds of summer items.
JULY RAFFLE
Publicity Chairman Ana Martin has put
together a basket of “Christmas in July”.
Tickets will be available until the drawing
on July 26 th . The winner need not be
present to win. Stop into the lodge to see
all that is included in this Christmas basket.
As always raffle tickets are one for $1.00,
three for $2.00 or eight for $5.00. See
Ana, Rosi or any officer to buy your tickets.
THREE INSTALLED
Installing Officer Jan Rapp and Guide Diane
Beane installed three new chairmen for the
WOTM: Mary Theresa Hepp as Chairman of
the College of Regents, Dolores Foster Morgan
as Youth Involvement Chairman and Charlene
Olson as Membership Retention Chairman.
We extend our congratulations to these three
outstanding co-workers.

I have just started to do the position of Lodge
Membership Chairman, so see what goes.
The IMA and Moose International will stay as
they are for now, check your State and
International publications and also what is
posted at our lodge.
We will have some programs for awards from
your lodge as soon as I can get them together.
Remember members are one of the very
important things in any organization and
especially ours.

SECRETARY?
Please join the WOTM board of officers as
secretary. It is a relatively painless
responsibility. You would take minutes at
three meetings a month and read them to the
membership along with the reading of any
correspondence. We are a fun group and we
know you will enjoy joining us. Again, call

A GREAT SUCCESS
All of your WOTM officers attended the
Moose International Training Session held
in our lodge on June 13 th . The session
leader was Joyce Hahn. She did an
excellent job in going over the changes for
2009-2010 and stressing some things
chapters need to be doing. We thank
Joyce for being so well organized and
enthusiastic. The day zipped by quickly.

A huge thank you to all of our co-workers who
have donated items for our gift tables and bingo
prize tables. Be assured everything you gave
has been used or is ready for the next card party
or bingo game.

GOV’S NOTES
There’s good news and bad news. The good
news is that we had a packed house for our
Roast Beef Dinner and entertainment on June
20th. The bad news is the air conditioner quit.
In the last newsletter I said we need Officers,
Committeemen and volunteers to succeed, and
no one has stepped forward. The few people
we have can’t continue doing this forever.
Please consider what you could do for the
lodge to help it survive.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Dee Walker, our Sunshine Chairman, came to
us after she received the last newsletter to say
she has done lots of community service this
year. We have added her volunteer hours to
our monthly report. Please, PLEASE if you
volunteer in the community, our hospitals,
schools, or give private assistance to a needy
person, let us know. We would like to include
your hours.
To that end, co-workers voted at the June 29 th
meeting to encourage each chairman and her
committee members to select a local charity
they would like to give some of their monthly
income to. It is our goal to recognize the
important work done in the Aurora area by so
many valuable organizations such as Wayside
Cross, the Salvation Army, Pregnancy
Information Center and so many others.
BRING MITTENS AND HATS
TO THE CHRISTMAS TREE
In September you are invited to decorate
the Christmas tree in the lobby with new
hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves. On the
last day of September these items will be
donated to a local agency. Mutual Ground,
is now closed, but there are other
organizations that need warm clothing for
little people. Thank you in advance for
your donations.
SUNDAY SNACKS
We have provided free snacks on Sunday
afternoons for a lengthy period of time. We are
sorry to say that our members have not come
out and participated in this time of Fraternalism
with others. So we have decided to discontinue
the snacks after Sunday July 19 th . We will miss
the few that have been there.
