Quality silage films for good silage
It needs to have a good, rich nutrient content. The quality
of the animal feed has an impact on the amount of
milk produced as well as the quality of meat. And the
better the quality of the silage, the better the results.
The prerequisite for producing the desired silage quality
is quality silage films with a thickness of at least
125 micron which guarantee the necessary gas impermeability.
POLYDRESS ® silage films from RKW can be
supplied in two thicknesses (150 and 200 micron) and
can be recommended without any reservation for all
types of silage.
To meet the requirements of agriculture which are high
as a whole, RKW AG manufactures its POLYDRESS ®
silage films from high-quality raw materials and subjects
them to strict quality management rules. This is why we
are able to offer you a 12-month guarantee for the UV
resistance and thus an optimum level of reliability.

How to create the perfect silo
Optimum silo coverage comprises a vacuum film and
silage film with a thickness of at least 125 micron, a
protective silo cover as well as silo sacks filled with
gravel. The protective cover prevents damage caused
by animals, and the silo sacks act as an oxygen barrier
and add weight.
If you opt for a silo with fixed side walls (in contrast to a
flat silo), it is advisable to use side wall films which protect
the silage at the wall areas and prevent water and
air from getting in at the sides.
You should basically plan your silo in such a way that,
once opened, the aerobic stability of the silage is guaranteed.
You should therefore draw up the width of the silo
to be such that the weekly forward advance on removal
is at least one to two metres in winter and two to three
metres in summer.
Particularly important factors for ensuring good silage
quality are the time of cutting, the degree of wilting,
the level of compaction as well as the airtight (anaerobic)
coverage with vacuum and silage film.

POLYDRESS ® silage films from RKW AG are made from
high-quality raw materials and are renowned for their

POLYDRESS ® silage films are available in roll lengths of
25, 35 and 50 m as well as in roll widths of 4 to 19 m.
The film width of 19 m has proved to be highly successful
primarily for businesses with very large numbers of
animals and corresponding feed requirements as well
as in the case of silage production for biogas plants.
To provide your silage with optimum protection,
POLYDRESS ® vacuum film is also available in widths ranging
from 6 to 19 m and it ensures that there is low gas
permeability even under high mechanical loading. The
transparent POLYDRESS ® side wall film protects the
silage at the wall areas and prevents water and air from
getting in at the sides.
POLYDRESS ® silage films are manufactured in the
colour combinations of white/white, white/black,
black/black and green/black/white. RKW thus offers a
suitable solution to cater for individual customer wishes
and particular regional features.
POLYDRESS ® DLG silage films –
the ones with the seal of quality
The DLG certificate is a quality seal for a particular level
of quality and reliability. The POLYDRESS ® versions
Garant 1501, Super 2001 and Dualen have passed the
necessary tests with flying colours.
Factors tested are those which are critical for reliable
use on a permanent basis, such as strength – even after
storage in acidic conditions or ageing, changes in dimension
after storage in warm conditions and gas permeability.
The POLYDRESS ® DLG silage films satisfy the strict
limit values with a safe margin. Colour dyeing was also
evaluated as uniform and free from smears.

for providing excellent silage quality and for being able
to withstand particularly high loads during tough everyday
operation.
