RECYCLE! IN WISCONSIN IT’S THE LAW
Recycling is picked up every other week on your regular refuse
day. Items should be set out for curbside collection according to the
schedule on page 11.
SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING: Single-stream simply means to
combine your paper with aluminum, tin, plastic and glass. All
recyclables must be placed into the same recycling cart.
Recyclable items include: aluminum cans,
corrugated cardboard, cereal/cracker boxes,
empty aerosol cans (except those that
contained hazardous materials), glass bottles
and jars all colors, home/office paper, junk
mail, newspaper, magazines, catalogs, paper
egg cartons, paper towel rolls, plastic bottles
and jugs (HDPE #2), plastic bottles and jars
(PET #1) and steel/tin cans. Please remove
caps or lids and give a quick rinse.
DO NOT RECYCLE: #2 tubs, #3-#7 bottles and containers, aluminum
pans/foil, empty steel paint cans, gift wrap, motor oil containers, plastic
bags, Styrofoam, tissue, waxed paper, window glass and ceramics or
china.
Residents in the city of Appleton are offered curbside recycling
collection.
Supply your own reusable bin until May 2013 and please follow
these guidelines:
• Reusable containers should have exterior handles, must not be
over 33 gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds.
• Mark your container with an Outagamie County Recycling decal,
available at Outagamie County Landfill (1419 Holland Road), City
Hall or the Municipal Service Building.
How to place recycling at the curb:
• Place all recyclable materials in your reusable container. There is
no need to separate paper from glass, aluminum, plastic and tin.
• Please do not place recyclables in plastic bags and do not place
trash in your recycling bin.
• All cardboard should be cut to no larger than 3’ x 3’ in size and
secured on windy days.
• Because refuse and recycling are picked up by separate trucks,
please keep your recycling container 4-5 feet away from
obstructions such as your garbage container, mailbox, utility
poles, trees and parked cars. If possible, put garbage and
recycling on opposite sides of the driveway.
• Be sure to have recyclables curbside the night BEFORE your
collection day (collection begins at 4:30 A.M.).
Inland Service Corporation at 920-759-0501.
