26 The Beacon Honor Society, which is made up of the students with honorable academic achievements, sponsored a Christmas party for the Maintenance staff at Mount Vernon. It was a very special party and got everyone in the Christmas spirit.
The Black Alliance Club is a very strong organization at Mount Vernon. Its mem bers raised money for the Atlanta slayings case, collected canned food for the poor, honored Black History month by inviting notable black speakers and musicians to Mount Vernon and held a Christmas party for foster children. This party was very special and gave the children a true sense of Christmas. 27
