Vana Tallinn tundub nii mõneski mõttes väga
Salzburgi moodi – muidugi juhul, kui te tunnete
Salzburgi, eilse ja tänase elu ajaloolist
linna. Kui ei, siis lugege seda traveloogi edasi.
Ehkki enamasti on tegu elava linnaga, ei saa
varjata, et võitlus uue ja vana vahel jääb aegajalt
lahenduseta.
Visiting the Old Town of Tallinn resembles
Salzburg in many cases – provided that you
know Salzburg, the historic city of the past and
present life. If not, keep on reading this
travelogue. Though most of the time it is a
lively city, you cannot conceal the fact that the
fight between old and new sometimes ends up
undecided.
TRAVELOGUE (FROM
SOMEONE IN SALZBURG)
Paul Raspotnig
Salzburgi keskaegsed ja ajaloolised ehitised
hoitakse turistide meeleheaks ilusasti korras,
sest nemad tahavad tulla täiuslikku keskkonda.
Piirid kena ja vastiku vahel on selgelt näha
ning külastajal ei jää muud üle, kui pigistada
kinni kordamööda ühte ja teist silma.
The mediaeval and historic structures in
Salzburg are appealingly maintained because
tourists like to come upon a perfect ambience.
Indeed borderlines between neat and nasty
are still apparent and visitors are busy closing
their left or right eye alternately.
Maja ees seisvad pingid
pakuvad võimalust istuda ja oodata, oodata ja
oodata…
One of the little neat houses accommodates
the bureau of the commission, which takes
care of the genuine look of the old city centre
of Salzburg. But if you look at the next door’s
sign, they obviously do not seem to be very
successful. In return two benches in front offer
an opportunity to keep waiting, and waiting,
and waiting…
Salzburgi ajalooliste ehitiste ja paikade korrashoidmiseks
kulub palju raha. Keegi kuulus
arhitekt nagu Otto Wagner olevat kujundanud
igale poole välikemmerguid – mis tähedab
vajadust hirmsa hinna eest jälle uusi monumente
ülal pidada.
Much money has to be spent for maintaining a
proper and tidy look of the historic buildings and
places of Salzburg. Apparently a famous architect
like Otto Wagner designed toilet-stations everywhere
– therefore another monument for conservation
at a costly price.
Salzburgis on rohkesti ülitähtsaid maju nagu
parlament ja katedraalid, mida hoitakse
võimalikult originaalilähedases vormis. Samas
ehitab linn paljutki ümber, ja tänavatele ilmub
uusi, uhkeid ja kalleid autosid. Harvemini tuleb
ette ka tõelisi rariteete nagu sellel pildil. Vean
kihla, et need vanad maanteekulgurid tulevad
varsti jälle moodi!
Salzburg has a great number of very important
buildings such as the parliament and cathedrals,
which are kept in the original condition.
In addition to the city remodelling its structures,
also more and more cars are appearing,
which are new, modern and expensive. Less
often you can find vintage cars as seen in the
picture. I bet these road cruisers will become
trendy again!
Mitte kõigil omanikel ei ole jõukohane oma
vanu maju renoveerida. Algust on igatahes
tehtud: sel aastal uus aken, järgmisel uus
garaažiuks, järgmisena seinakate. Ise tehes
saab muidugi odavamalt.
Not all the owners can afford renovating their
old houses. But they are making a start: this
year a new window, the following year a new
garage door maybe, and the year after a new
coating for the walls. To reduce expenses the
best practice is to ‘do-it-yourself’.
