6.11 Binding Study Advice<br />
The school applies the requirements <strong>of</strong> the Binding Study Advice (BSA) to first-year<br />
bachelor students. The BSA requires first-year bachelor students to obtain at least 34 ECTS<br />
(<strong>of</strong> which one course has to be a Quantitative Methods course) during their first year <strong>of</strong><br />
study, so as to remain in the study programme. Additionally, the BSA requires first-year<br />
bachelor students to complete their first year <strong>of</strong> study, which means completing all the<br />
first year courses (60 ECTS), within the period <strong>of</strong> two years. For extensive information on<br />
the specific requirements <strong>of</strong> the Binding Study Advice, please check on eleUM.<br />
Personal circumstances<br />
When personal circumstances, like illness or other problems disrupting your study, occur<br />
during your study, inform the academic advisor as quickly as possible. Conversations with<br />
the academic advisor are held strictly confidential. For detailed information on the open<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice hours <strong>of</strong> the student advisors please see chapter 8 <strong>and</strong>/or check on eleUM.<br />
7 Faculty related information<br />
7.1 eleUM<br />

eleUM is accessible via http://eleum.unimaas.nl. Via this portal you can find all the<br />
relevant information on schedules, regulations, registration deadlines, assignments, exam<br />
results, announcements from the school or the tutor <strong>of</strong> your tutorial group, etcetera. (for<br />
more information on eleUM see chapter 4).<br />
7.2 SurfYourSelf, the Information & Service Site<br />
Surfyourself, the Information & Service Site, is an advanced information system in which<br />
you can surf <strong>and</strong> search for answers to all your questions <strong>and</strong>/or requests concerning the<br />
organization <strong>of</strong> educational activities <strong>and</strong> examinations. Surfyourself is available 24 hours<br />
a day <strong>and</strong> seven days a week. If the answer to your question is not available in the system,<br />
you can submit your question immediately. All your questions will be answered within<br />
two working days by the appropriate person.<br />
SurfYourSelf is accessible via http://eleum.unimaas.nl or www.surfyourself.nl.<br />
7.3 Information Desk<br />
For all other transactions <strong>and</strong> study-related questions, making appointments, h<strong>and</strong>ing in<br />
or collecting various types <strong>of</strong> forms, please consult the Information Desk at the entrance<br />
<strong>of</strong> Tongersestraat 53.<br />
Services<br />
The information desk staff can:<br />

Furthermore at the Information Desk you can:<br />
• H<strong>and</strong> in or collect study materials such as papers, block assignments, etc.<br />
• Ask for a print <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial documents such as transcripts <strong>of</strong> your home university,<br />
student exchange contracts, request for approval files, list <strong>of</strong> grades, diplomas, etc.<br />
• Get a copy <strong>of</strong> various brochures <strong>and</strong> flyers containing information on the programmes<br />
<strong>of</strong>fered at SBE.<br />
• Get a statement <strong>of</strong> registration/graduation.<br />
Generally, the staff at the Information Desk will be able to answer your question<br />
or h<strong>and</strong>le your request. If not, they will refer you to the right <strong>of</strong>fice/person.<br />
