Convention-goers found some great gifts and souvenirs at the<br />
Shopping Mall.<br />
personal development workshops. Hosted<br />
by former national officers, <strong>FFA</strong> members<br />
and other presenters, the workshops gave<br />
attendees the chance to build leadership<br />
skills and take new ideas back to their<br />
chapters.<br />
During the week, guest speakers<br />
provided students with thought-provoking<br />
words of encouragement and motivation.<br />
“Listening to the motivational speakers<br />
is what I look forward to the most at<br />
national convention,” said Jed Michal of<br />
the Flagler <strong>FFA</strong> Chapter in Colorado.<br />
“The speakers offer great advice, tell<br />
funny stories and relate their experience<br />
to <strong>FFA</strong>.”<br />

Mexico State University, entertained<br />
students with a message on how<br />

experiential training session sponsored by Cargill as a special<br />
project of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>FFA</strong> Foundation.<br />

lives and works. Former basketball player<br />
Chad Varga shared details of his troubled<br />
past and encouraged <strong>FFA</strong> members to<br />
overcome obstacles. Robin Roberts, an<br />
anchor for ABC’s “Good Morning<br />
America,” reflected on her experiences as<br />
an athlete and reporter and how she was<br />
able to rise to success. <strong>National</strong> Guard<br />
Staff Sergeant Christopher Stone inspired<br />
students with a story of survival and<br />
patriotism as he recounted the days he<br />
spent as a prisoner of war in the Former<br />
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.<br />
Outside the sessions, one of the most<br />
popular convention spots was the career<br />
show. With more than 340 organizations<br />
represented, the South Wing of Freedom<br />
Hall was packed with displays from<br />
