(SAFE) is a private, non-profit 501c (3) organization established in 1980 to serve domestic violence survivors. Over the years, SAFE has expanded its services to meet the needs of the community. Today, SAFE is a “dual” program, providing prevention, intervention and educational services for sexual assault survivors and their children along with survivors of domestic violence. Throughout the years, all SAFE services and support have remained free and confidential. SAFE serves the counties of Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock, Madison and Orange counties. SAFE services include a 24-hour toll free hotline, 24-hour emergency shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, court and support advocacy, individual and group counseling, children’s services, school based awareness and prevention programs, public awareness programs, community partnerships and a volunteer program. The program helps individuals achieve and sustain a higher quality of life, through resources. Benedictine Aid & Relief for Neighbors (BARN) is committed to providing these families with transitional housing and access to supportive services to promote healing, growth, and self-sufficiency. Founded in 1997 by the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia, the BARN is a secular, non-denominational not-forprofit organization that provides house and access to services for homeless women and their children from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 24 months. BARN provides case management, job skills training, counseling and life skills, financial management, education, employment assistance and assistance with permanent housing. Mother must be at least 19 years old with physical custody of at least one child All mothers must meet HUD guidelines for homelessness Must be referred by a community agency 21
