Connecting the fax machine Connecting to the telephone socket Turn the machine upside down. Connect the telephone cable to the fax machine by inserting it in the socket on the bottom of the machine identified with LINE. Insert the cable in the groove provided. Then insert the telephone plug into the line socket. In the UK: For all other countries: Connecting the spiral cable to the handset Plug one end of the spiral cable into the handset. – 8 – Connecting the handset to the fax machine Insert the other end of the spiral cable into the socket identified with a handset symbol on the bottom of the machine and press it into the specially provided cable groove.
Connecting to the power supply Please note that the handset must be replaced before you connect the machine to the power supply. Plug the power connector into the back of the fax machine. The machine will carry out an internal test. – 9 – TIME: 1ˆ:00 Enter the correct time (e.g. 1 2 3 0 for 12:30). TIME: 12:3¡ Press the OK key. Enter the correct year (00 - 99, for the year 2000 select 00). Press the OK key. Enter the correct month (1 - 12). Press the OK key. Enter the correct day (1 - 31). Confirm with OK. If you do not enter the time and date or after you have pressed OK, the CHECK DISPLAY lamp flashes and the display reads as follows: If you then set time and date select function 12 “Entering time and date”. If the fax machine has not yet been loaded with ink film and/or paper, the CHECK DISPLAY lamp flashes, and the following message appears on the display: YEAR: ¢8 YEAR: 9¢ MONTH: ¡1 MONTH: 0¤ DAY: ¡1 DAY: 1¤ 15-MAY-99 12:30 set time/date refill inkfilm OUT OF PAPER In standby mode (the display shows time and date) your fax machine is automatically in energy saving mode.
