Colour printing Changing to a new cartridge colour 1 You can also print documents which you have stored in your computer in colour. To do this, you need to exchange the black cartridge for a colour cartridge. 2 Follow points 1-5 of the instructions under “Installation/ Changing the cartridge”. 3 The fax machine automatically distinguishes between a colour and a black cartridge. When you insert a colour cartridge for the first time, the display shows CARTR. NEW: YES Confirm with OK. 4 If you have already used the cartridge, your fax machine automatically recognises the fill level of the cartridge again. If a colour cartridge has been inserted, faxes will not be printed out but will be read into memory. The display shows : BLACK CARTRIDGE Change the cartridge or press START if you wish to print out the fax regardless. Printing out from the PC If the software installation has been performed successfully, your fax machine is now set up as a standard printer. You can now print out on the fax machine from any program you like. 1 You can modify the printer settings for each respective application. If you give a print command or select printer installation, a dialogue box opens. Select the command which will take you to printer setting and make the desired modifications. 2 In “Control Panel”, you can modify the printer settings for all applications. Highlight the LinkFaxPro printer and under “File / Properties” make the desired modifications. 3 Under “File / set as default” you can determine whether you wish to use the fax machine as a standard printer or not. 26 If the mouse cursor remains on an option in the printer dialogue window for longer than 3 seconds, a short description will appear. If you click with the right mouse button on a modification box in the printer dialogue window, the on-line help for this topic will appear. You may also click on the “Help” command. The overview of on-line help will open. Contrast The factory default for this feature has been set to medium. With function 47 you can adjust the contrast quality (brightness) for documents you want to copy or send as a fax message, e.g. dark photos or forms with coloured background. 1 Press MENU, 47 and OK. 2 With you can choose between three different options: CONTRAST: LOW CONTRAST: MEDIUM CONTRAST: HIGH 3 Confirm your choice with OK.

(only with built-in answering device) Your fax machine is equipped with a digital telephone answering machine. All recorded messages are stored in a solid-state electronic memory which has a recording capacity of up to 25 minutes. There is neither a magnetic tape nor a cassette. Your answering machine is factory-programmed with a recorded outgoing message. If you want to record your own outgoing message, proceed as described under “Recording a message”. Write down your messages before you record them. Make sure that your fax machine stands on a hard, flat surface, because otherwise the microphone may be covered. Switching on and off Activate or deactivate your answering machine with ON/OFF. Activate mode is indicated with the symbol b on the display. Recording a message 1 Hold down RECORD for two seconds. Press RECORD again, until you hear a confirmation tone. Lift the handset and start to record your message. 2 A black bar indicates you how much memory is available for the outgoing message (max. 20 seconds). 3 Stop recording by pressing RECORD or STOP. 4 The new answering message is automatically replayed. By pressing u you can change the volume of the message. 5 To hear the message again, press RECORD for a while (two seconds) and then y. Duration of recording 1 Select MENU 51 and press OK. 2 Press u to choose between 30, 60, 120 seconds or the AUTO mode (unlimited recording time). Please note that AUTO mode is not available in all countries. 3 Confirm with OK. Der 8 Answering Anrufbeantworter machine 27 Listening to messages 1 If the green lamp for the answering device b flashes, messages have been recorded for you. Press y to listen to the first message. The date and time the message was received will be shown on the display. 2 The next message will be replayed if you press y while listening to any message. 3 If you want to switch to the first message while listening to the other messages, press 1. 4 After listening to your messages the green lamp of the answering device b will stay on until all messages have been erased. Play back volume 1 Press u while playing back messages. The current volume setting will be displayed. 2 Press u to obtain the desired volume. Deleting messages Single messages 1 If you want to delete the message which is currently being played, press CLEAR. 2 You will be asked on the display if you really want to delete this message. Press CLEAR again. All messages 1 Press CLEAR after having listened to all messages. 2 If you actually want to delete all messages, press CLEAR again. To interrupt the deleting process press STOP.
