Use ever, during last 30 days, and during last 12

months

Trends in substance abuse by adolescents

What students have learned about substances

Reports of family influences, peer pressure,

substance availability, consequences of use, and

safety issues


Objectives of MAS

This important and mandatory survey provides

information on the nature, extent and trends in alcohol,

tobacco and other drug use by students in grades 6, 8,

10 and 12 through Maryland and Frederick, in

particular.

Survey results assist in program planning and

implementation and have an important role to play in

decisions affecting students in Frederick County.


Sample Population for Frederick

Initial sample 2,064 students

Sample drawn from 19 schools

Overall Response Rate: 85%
