Terms of Contract for the Procurement of School Transportation
1. Frankfurt International School shall contract with
transportation carriers to transport the children
named on the reverse side whose parents have
requested school transportation for the school year
indicated according to the conditions set forth below
and in the annual Statement of Transportation Fees.
2. School transportation is understood to be bus and,
where applicable, taxi service as per the latest
published schedule on all school days between the
school and the stop nearest to the address indicated
on this form.
3. Only those children may use school transportation
for whom this properly completed contract has been
submitted.
4. To the extend permitted by law, the school shall be
liable only for fault in the selection of transportation
carriers appointed by the school, which liability shall,
however, be limited to intend and gross negligence.
The school shall not be liable, in particular, when
a bus or taxi arrives late, does not run or does not
serve a given stop. On the other hand, the school
shall make every effort to provide efficient service
at all times.
The limitation of liability does not apply to losses
arising out of death, injury to body or health. The
liability for damages to goods carried by the children
is limited to €550 per child, as long as it is not caused
by intent or gross negligence.
5. The school shall not be responsible for children
not using school transportation to and from school.
Children below grade 3 should be transported to
and from school by school bus or private car and
should not use public transportation.
6. Each child is required to use only his designated bus
(or taxi) and stop. Any deviation therefrom shall be
at own risk, even though a written permission for a
deviation has been received from the child’s parents
or guardian and approved by the Transportation
Office. The school will not approve any deviation
for a child under third grade unless it is indicated in
the written permission that the child will be met at
the temporary stop. In no case shall the school be
responsible for a child who makes a change unless
the above procedures are followed.
7. Each Pre-Primary, Primary or grade 1 child must be
accompanied to and met at the proper stop by one
of his parents or another person authorized by the
parents on every day he/she attends school.
8. The children should be at the designated stop five
minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
9. Children must behave responsibly whatever means
of transportation they use.
10. The school reserves the right to suspend a child
for cause from school transportation temporarily or
for the remainder of the school year. Under such
circumstances the transportation fee shall not be
refunded.
11. Parents may not initiate technical changes, e.g. the
location of a stop, but must request such changes
through the Transportation Office.
12. Persons other than children in attendance at the
school may not use school transportation without
permission of the Transportation Office.
13. The school reserves the right to change routes,
times or fees after due notice has been given to the
parents.
14. This contract may be cancelled only in writing and
up to 15 days prior to the date on which cancellation
becomes effective. Any refund of transportation
fees is subject to the proration procedure in place
for tuition and transportation fees.
15. In case a provision of this contract should be void in
full or in part, this does not affect the validity of the
remaining provisions.
16. This contract is subject to the laws of the Federal
Republic of Germany. Exclusive jurisdiction is in
Frankfurt am Main.
