“SPARK” SUPPORTIVE PARK AND RECREATION KONNECTION

Freeport Park District Special Recreation Department offers a wide variety of recreational programs

and services which help enhance the quality of life for people with varying degrees of disabilities.

Some of those programs are as follows: bingo, swimming, a dance once a month, bowling, a prom in

April complete with a limo ride, and drumming circles, to name a few. The staff adapts programs and

equipment to meet the needs of the participants. They work with each individual so that they can

perform to the best of their abilities in the least restrictive environment. The benefits of participating

in these programs are increased socialization and self-esteem through the development of new leisure

skills and community awareness which contributes to their physical and emotional well-being! These

activities are done in a fun, safe and structured environment. Join the fun today by calling Special
