‘A Great Escape’

Hidden down a quiet country

lane, yet less than five minutes

from the village centre,

Magnolias is perfectly positioned

for quiet country living

combined with jolly village life.

Open to All

The current owner bought the property, which

was previously farmland, four years ago having

fallen in love with the area. “I was living in central

London and regularly visited friends up here on

the weekend,” she says. “Eventually I decided that

I loved it so much I should move up here.”

Enlightened with airy pastel hues, the property is

very much a country retreat. “I like to keep things

very traditional, creating a soft country feel,” says

the owner. With feature walls bringing a retro

style to the bedrooms, Magnolias resonates an

aura that envelops all, bringing a sense of

wellbeing and calm. A very versatile space, the

property is suited to everyone. “The house is

great for those that love the outdoors – possibly a

family with young children,” explains the owner.

“The utility room is very large and the ideal place

for drying a wet dog or storing walking boots.”

Afternoon Delights

As a keen gardener herself, the outside space was

very important to the owner. “The garden wraps

“I’ll really miss the peace and quiet and

being able to step out into the open

countryside.”

gently around the house,” she says. “It’s so lovely

to be outside, I spend most of my time pottering

around and admiring the views. One of my

favourite things to do is to sit outside in winter

wrapped up warm and have a cup of tea.”

Decorated with a variety of trees and shrubs,

including a walnut tree, the garden is an oasis.

“The previous owners grew vegetables, but I’ve

turned it into more of an ornamental garden,”

explains the owner. “I wanted to create a floaty,

soft and very feminine feel.” A common visiting

ground for wildlife, the garden extends invitation

to a variety of creatures. “There are always birds

in the garden flitting happily about,” says the

owner.

Wonderful Walks

Opposite the property is an attractive old chapel,

which welcomes guests on Sundays. “I can see it

from the bedroom or anywhere in the garden,”

says the owner. “It’s really very nice to look at and

adds to the charm of the house.” Beyond the

garden is delightful woodland, which is great for

taking an afternoon stroll with the dog. “It’s so

quiet in there I don’t even need to put my dog on

a lead,” she says. For those wishing to enjoy the

area’s delights by foot, a walk taking just under an

hour will lead you to the village of Redgrave. “I

regularly take my dog down here and stop off at

the local pub for a drink,” says the owner with a

smile. The village of Botesdale, which can be

reached in less than five minutes, is bustling with

life. “We have it all here,” explains the owner,

“from a fish ‘n’ chip shop to a beauty salon. We

also have two village halls which have something

going on in them every day.” Ideal for all and

ready to welcome its new owners, Magnolia is

one not to be missed.
