PRESIDENT’S COLUMN BY MICHELLE POUBLON
Dear Striders,
It was great to see so many of you on January 21st
at the Nashua Country Club for our annual Awards
Night. Whilt is is always nice to recognize as many
striders as we can, this year was even more special
with our first ever inductees into the Gate City
Striders Hall of Fame. What an honor it was to be
in the presence of so many “legends” of the club.
Even though we were only able to recognize a
couple dozen members who shined in competition
or were exceptionally helpful at many of the events
that require GCS volunteers, I thank all of you for
making this club what it is today. So, while you
may not have earned a competition award or
outstanding service award for your efforts, I want
to assure you that our contribution is appreciated!
Now the snow is starting to melt, and the days are
getting longer. It is time to think about which club
races you want to run in, and which ones you can
help out at. As always, everyone is as important as
anyone else. Without all of you, we wouldn’t have
such a great running club. So please don’t feel like
you have to be a record breaking runner to help
our club score points. Everyone who shows up to
help or run makes a positive difference.
Indoor track is in the closing stages, even though it
has been pushed back two weeks due to
cancellations from the weather. That can only
mean we are swiftly approaching our outdoor
season! I look forward to seeing everyone again,
when the weather is nice enough for shorts and tshirt.
Think Spring!
